One of the weird things with the new space book is several responses have literally been "I don't like it because it doesn't share my optimism." Which is like... something you're supposed to think not say. But it is honestly my big worry with this book - that saying this exciting thing is way more complicated than usually believed will turn people off. But, as far as I can tell, that's where the facts lead, so shrug

@ZachWeinersmith Oh, I’ve been saying that the dream of space colonization is optimistic for YEARS. Most of the work of populating other planets will inevitably have to go to machines, not humans.

Really, the whole development of self-driving vehicles should be more important to NASA than to Tesla.

Is there a word for actions for which there's no single verb? E.g. something can "catch fire" but not "fire-ify" or something can be "colored blue" but not "blue-ify" or someone can "get angry" but not "angry-fy." As opposed to "he changed" "he exploded" "he messaged me"

@ZachWeinersmith I think the most interesting example of this is that there’s no English word for “to smell fragrant”. Something can stink or reek, but there’s no positive equivalent.

    @badlogic BlueSky and Threads are trying to monetize from the get-go. They’re not trying to build a social space for people to hang out with each other; they’re actually TRYING to create an echo chamber where brands can sell you stuff. And in the process they forgot to give people a reason to stay.

    In Plainfield, IL, a 71 year old man is in custody for stabbing to death an 6-year-old Palestinian child named Wadea Al-Fayoume & nearly killing his mother.😓

    The murderer stabbed the child 26 times & yelled "you Muslims must die!"😳

    No charges filed yet. Police are investigating.

    I'm seeing more and more people, especially non-artists, saying things like 'My AI art skills are really improving,' as if AI is a discipline such as drawing, painting or whatever.
    Like people in 1981 who pricked the cellophane on their frozen ready-meals, popped them in the microwave and said 'My cooking skills are really improving. Maybe I'm a chef now.'

    #Transformers #EarthSpark Nightshade arrived today!

    I like how the knives store on the wings, although they could clip in more securely. Wings can pivot to an open or closed position in owl mode without extra hinges because they’re painted the same on both sides.

    The robot arms were apparently designed for cartoon accuracy in robot mode, which means they don’t form a clean chest in owl mode. The plastic gaps inside the robot thighs are also very visible.

    Overall, a good if imperfect figure.
