We investigated performance degradation due to excessive crawling of Codeberg.

We often trace back such things to company websites that proudly list their key investors - but don't actually explain what they are doing (or why they need to crawl Codeberg more excessively than the crawlers of the major search engines combined).

It's probably not a use case we believe in anyway, so we blocked several large IP ranges today.

Hey y'all. Today's my birthday, and unfortunately I'm starting today off pretty deep in overdraft. I was able to float myself for most of April and May thankfully, but the work's run out again, and with my anxiety being absolutely through the roof lately, I'm not confident I can get back to things soon.

If you could, it would mean a lot to me if you could help out. I'm not looking for anything fancy, I just want to cover my rent and groceries and health insurance and stuff for a little while.

For those who aren’t aware, Microsoft have decided to bake essentially an infostealer into base Windows OS and enable by default.

From the Microsoft FAQ: “Note that Recall does not perform content moderation. It will not hide information such as passwords or financial account numbers."

Info is stored locally - but rather than something like Redline stealing your local browser password vault, now they can just steal the last 3 months of everything you’ve typed and viewed in one database.

We had a minor Sidekiq outage that impacted federation with other servers, as our secrets failed to properly sync with Kubernetes. We have manually rectified the issue and are investigating why authentication with Vault is failing.

I have been a begrudging user of Telegram for years simply because that's what all the other furries use. When I signed up, I held my nose and expressed my discontent at Telegram by selecting a username that's a dig at MTProto's inherent insecurity against chosen ciphertext attacks: IND_CCA3_Insecure. I've come down pretty hard on FWA this weekend (and imo justifiably so, because it upsets me dearly to think that I'd be shut out of such an experience because of policy failings and general fandom apathy), but one BIG thing they've done right are these streams that have run all weekend and the VR portal that accompanies them.

The amount of work that goes into building a VR experience that mirrors the screens that folks IRL are seeing into screens in VR is impressive. The fact that they stream every musical performance over the whole weekend and keep these portals up does a lot to make at least that part of the con accessible to people who have to stay home for one reason or another.

I've been a huge proponent of streaming cons since before I was one of the ones doing it in the pony con era.

This is one thing FWA has, with WaterWolf and Furality's help, absolutely nailed, and other cons should mirror.
