@StillIRise1963 @SharonCrockett I had Paxlovid mouth, too. Mine wasn’t metallic. It was like I hadn’t brushed my teeth for a week. So gross! Beat the heck out of hospitalization, though! Glad you both got through a COVID bout ok.

    Last night, my husband asked me to look at something that felt weird on his back, and honestly, it looked like a cancerous mole. I told him he needed to go to the doctor this morning, so he did. The Nurse Practitioner said, Yep, that looks gnarly, and took a biopsy. Now we have to wait for a week, which feels way too long. I know basal cell carcinomas are very treatable, and almost never lead to death, but I still feel anxious. Has anyone else dealt with this before?

    @RickiTarr Husband had one on his face. Dermatologist took care of it, but there were still some cancer cells in the margins, so they did a Mohs procedure (they can get every bit of it while you are there). A couple of years in, and he’s still got a clean bill from the dermatologist.

    New Year has always been accompanied by complex feelings for me. Time has always felt like it was moving too fast, even as a child, and New Year is a stark reminder that another year has come and gone.

    A lot of people use this moment to think about how they'd like to change, New Year, New You, but inevitably we are still ourselves. In the end though, I'm the worst person of all, an Optimist. I really believe that things can and do get better, and in the case, of New Year, New You, maybe the old you is pretty good already, and you just did the best you could last year, and you're gonna do your best this year too.

    Our time is short, weird, wonderful, heartbreaking, and fascinating. I'm here for it, and I'm incredibly lucky to have this group of people to chat with, empathize with, and learn from. I'm ringing in the New Year with gratitude.

    Anyway, as usual that was verbose, but please, tell me your thoughts on the New Year, Anything you want to talk about is fine!

    @RickiTarr I didn’t drink and I didn’t cry this NYE. Grief has eaten me alive for decades and NYE would churn it all up in years past, but I got some specialized trauma therapy earlier this year that helped me release the stuff I’d unknowingly been holding onto. So, I feel like 2023 moved me in positive directions, and I’m calling that a W.

    so apparently cisgender, heteronormative Zillennial women haven’t had their moment in the sun until 2023 & the movie.

    of particular interest to me is this one image they added to the article as proof of how girly fashion is inherently an act of rebellion.

    given the ugly & conservative, only your evangelical aunty would wear, clothes hawked to Zillenials, it’s not shocking they feel this way.

    @RickiTarr @blogdiva My grandmothers both worked for a company called Movie Star (its vintage lingerie is sought after now). They both could sew just about anything. I think years of sewing quotas made them look at sewing as more of a chore, though. None of the girls in either family were taught how to use sewing machines.

    What is one decision you've made in your life, that you knew was the absolute right decision to make and why?

    @kierkegaank Giving up hope was something I learned in therapy. Hope had felt like a moral imperative all my life, even if it was completely illogical. One session I said “ya gotta have hope.” She said, “Do you???” I hadn’t realized that it was a cognitive distortion that was kind of poisoning me before.
