I'm far too fascinated with far too many topics. I've compiled an exhaustive list of hashtags for some of those interests; I'll try to do better about keeping it current and updated.
This is really encouraging. Hopefully their internal discussions filter out into the wider BBC community and convince more journalists to logon to Mastodon.
That said, the R&D's recognition that they could publish directly into the Fediverse using ActivityPub is even more encouraging and important because it opens up a huge array of options for their content.
The BBC has "had really encouraging levels of engagement (i.e. replies, re-posts and likes) on Mastodon. For some equivalent posts we’ve seen significantly larger engagement numbers for Mastodon compared to X/Twitter, particularly given the relative sizes of different platforms. We think this is partly due to the culture of Mastodon, and partly because of some of the topics we’ve posted about." https://www.bbc.co.uk/rd/blog/2024-02-extending-our-mastodon-social-media-trial #twittermigration
This is my last cross-post from Mastodon. #Twitter folk, follow me at mstdn.party/@pandorablake to get my personal posts ❤️
I realised that having a crossposter set up from here to my residual Twitter feed (in hopes of attracting a few more to migrate over here) is holding me back from posting on here. I feel more comfortable revealing myself to the audience on Mastodon without knowing it'll end up on the #birdsite.
My name is Kerem; I'm a photographer & also interested in 3D modeling & digital illustration. I enjoy Synthwave, Deep House & Dark Ambient music.
Like the most, I'm migrating from Twitter and looking for a proper place to share my work. It is really hard for someone like me who using Twitter as his main social media since 2008.
I hope I can make meaningful connections here too.
Hi, I moved here because Twitter sucks even worse now (I'll be honest, the dancing kitty gif as an icon sold me) and the fact that people here are most likely to be nice.
I've been using linux on and off since 2012. Oddly into french death metal now. I like anime and fanfiction. I have a soft kitty.
Very grateful for all those who’ve #followed already but still struggling despite the advice to find any old mutual follows. If you fancy sending some of your followers my way to enrich my #mastodon experience, that would be ace.
There aren't many sports journalists on #Mastodon. Most take the lazy #Bluesky option because it looks and feels a bit like Twitter. Even more just stay on that sinking ship while the band plays on. Jason deserves a follow here for making the effort.
@atomicpoet I agree. Fedi will be what the culture morphs into. I hope it is, on the whole, better than all other places. It is now, definitely. I sense that there will be a strong motivation by current users to keep to the ethic that is here even if it has changed since the #TwitterMigration (and not necessarily in a good way in everyone's eyes). We can only try our best.
1/ This is a Thread to include the entire text of petition #e4769 to have Parliament create a Fediverse server.
But first: Wow! This is the fastest House of Commons petition I've ever participated in! Almost 400 signatures in 24 hours! Canadian Fediversians want Parliament out of corporate social media and accessible to all!

Parliament should own and control its communications infrastructure to ensure the ability of the public servants within its walls to fulfill their mandates and reach every Canadian in an equitable and easy way because as renowned Canadian Media Studies Philosopher Marshall Mcluhan said, the medium is the message.
7/END e-4769 (Media and telecommunications) Petition to the Government of Canada
We, the undersigned, residents of Canada, call upon the Government of Canada to enact policy and dedicate budgetary resources to enable the Parliament of Canada to provide an open, trusted, federated, social media presence for use by all members, senators, officers and other employees of Parliament as appropriate for communication to all Canadians.
The downward trend in #Bluesky daily active users has been visible since October but for the last 10 days new registrations have also been consistently low compared to the past at only around 4.5k per day.
“Wound Man” is an illustration which first appeared in European surgical texts during the Middle Ages. It laid out schematically the various wounds a person might suffer in battle or in accidents, with accompanying text stating treatments. Tag yourself as a wound. 😂
Whelp.. I finally made too many hashtags to fit on my profile. I tried to pick the ones most applicable to me, or ones I feel most passionate about for my page, and I'll attach an exhaustive, absurdly long list of hashtags below. It was surprisingly difficult to decide which ones made the cut. Drumroll please:
