I don't consciously write for any age group. Certainly, nothing is aimed at children. Most of what I write has mature themes. So the answer is probably no, I write for a mature audience.

#WritersCoffeeClub #Writing 17 Other than writing, what's your go-to creative outlet?

Anyone who follows my timeline knows I'm deep into underground Japanese Idols. Neck deep or deeper. Shows, livestreams, Cheki (small polaroid-type photos), bromides (larger photos), autographs, you name it.

I also do rough camping and hunt ghosts. I know some folks think I'm batty but I've had a couple of encounters with them.

Meiko-kun wears the high school uniform he was wearing when he died.

Mikawa wears a funeral kimono.

It's part of their identity, so I guess that is what they are most comfortable in.

Politely.

Shiro and Kao would find a private corner and misbehave because the risk of getting caught is what turns Shiro on.

Ume, Tomo, and Shiomi would leave as soon as was polite.

Saeki likes learning so she would explore thoroughly and Arisu would go along because Saaki was enjoying herself.

No body is buying season passes though.

Hello everyone. I'm back from the almost dead. Follow my advice and avoid getting a throat/stomach infection plus a fall from the stairs combo because you might not like the wonderful things something like that can do to your body. Cool things like feeling so weak that you can't even sign something at the bank, or hallucinate with an "AI filter" =-|

Now, I'm not sure if being back is a good thing…>=)

#JIdol I filled one of my cheki albums last yesterday. 128 Hima cheki. I have a "Moon Kami" album on order. I'll use it for the 2shot and those autographed with my name. The current one will be for Hima cosplay and basic autographed cheki.

Tomo: "Ume. I had to talk her out of investing in a maid cafe in Hanno and not paying some scam publisher to look at her stories.."

Ume: "All true. But least gullible sounds like a good thing. Tomo wouldn't believe me about Mikawa being a ghost even after she tried to kill me and Shiomi several times. Mikawa literally had to knock on our door before he would believe me."

314 — Has your MC ever felt as though they were reborn in the mental / emotional sense?

Kaori the LI in my second novel starts the novel off feeling this way. She sees her destined romantic partner and allows her to turn her life around.

Shiomi/Shishi has this moment at the end of volume one of Konkini Idol. But I'm not saying any more about that since it is the whole driving issue and climax of that volume.

14. Do you have a sense of how much plot you need for how long a manuscript?

Starting point, Ending point. and some ideas of major landmarks. That comes out as 10 to 12 bullet points, character sketches for the major characters, and probably one or two scenes written. I invest far more time in the characters than the plot.

May 13: When does AI cross the line between helpful tool and problematic tech for writing and publishing?

I am an active luddite and do what I can to sabotage AI.

When does it cross the line?

  1. When steals training material.
  2. When it plagiarizes or mimics others.
  3. When they utilize immoral terms of service. i.e looting social media that have implemented "legalized theft."
  4. When it attempts to substitute itself for real individuals.
  5. When it attempts to pass itself off as human output.
  6. When it attempts to imply it is "intelligence."

In other words, everything that currently labels itself as AI. "Deep Learning" tools could be acceptable but not as they are currently implemented and run.

Oh forgot when it uses "sweatshop" labor.

Lack of ethics?

The dominant AI models are trained on stolen material or utilize the "legalized theft" implemented by SNS platform's TOS. Sweatshop labor is used to groom it. It does not credit its sources which is plagiarism.

It does nothing to hinder unethical people from passing off the products as their own. So while it may not directly pass itself off as human-produced it blandly winks at it.

It is marketed as intelligence. A lie.

Burn it down
Poison it.

Indeed.

I am all for banning guns AND suing gun manufacturers.
I am all for poisoning AI AND suing millionaire pirates.

And when we have set reasonable boundaries for ML moving forward. People seemed to have missed my statement that I am not opposed to ML only the way it has been implemented and the direction it is moving in.

I was very briefly in a discord group for writers that I’d been invited to join. Someone posted something which included the word “bullshit,” and the discord host said there was no room for such language as it was a “family-friendly” forum, something that was definitely not mentioned before I joined up. I quickly left the server, as I use words much more salty than that, and do not write “family-friendly” fiction.

AI crossing the line

It never crosses the line.

Humans using it cross the line.

If it tells the writer a sentence is wrong, that’s fine. If the writer substitutes the sentence AI provides, that’s the line crossed.

And that's just the little stuff.

I shouldn’t have to explain this.

Most of my MCs are estranged from their parents, but alive and well elsewhere. I have killed off at least one (a father), but I prefer to keep them distant and cold.

Mistake

It's not mistake:

Instead of letting me go, she said, “You shouldn’t. That’s a graveyard and she’s dead.”

Everyone said that, but it was a mistake. I had seen Mikawa, and she was definitely alive. Why wouldn’t Ume let me go? All I wanted to do was be with my girlfriend. Did this damn bitch think I would go with her when I had Mika?

“Fuck you,” I said and tried to get away. “She’s waiting. Mika is waiting.”
