A short thread on accessing #Paxlovid in the US if you test positive for #COVID, based on what I've learned today when my 17yo tested positive. Thread includes #tips on being prepared for your inevitable positive test.

Pro painting tip: clean and prep surfaces BEFORE painting, especially after drywalling. 🙄 (I know that... the contractors do not, or were energy-challenged) #painting#tips
As much as I love C++, its optional and expected objects can just envy one killer feature of their Rust counterparts. If you're working with a Result<T, E> in a function that returns a Result<U, E2>, you can use operator ? to simply unwrap the Ok value into a variable. If the result contains an error, Rust will not panic; rather, it returns that error from the current function similar to how exception would bubble up the code. The only limitation is that the function must return Result with the error type to which the propagated error can be implicitly converted.
Option also supports the operator ?, which either propagates None up the call stack or safely unwraps the stored Some.
I'd kill to have this in C++, where you would have to employ non-standard compiler extensions to create a macro that would be at least close.
When you attach a video, audio or an image to a post, you have the possibility of providing a #description the description helps disabled users to understand what your content is about. Adding a #altText or a description of sorts also helps those with low internet who cannot load the media. Your media is also more likely to be boosted when all are included and know what it is about. 1/3
Alrighty, my tech friends! claps my hands I welcome all kinds of tips for blogging, writing better, etc. #blogging#tips#writing Lots love from me and use your tech wisely. 💖
Considering trying to get into #acting. We live near a playhouse so gonna see if I can just volunteer there on the weekends doing set work or something to test the waters and get some #advice from the #actors.
The thing is that I discovered that I enjoy acting while performing in a "Snow White and the Seven Dwarves" parody play waaay back in 8th grade but my low self-esteem issues led me away from pursuing it after being mocked by some assho… uh, other kids. I've always regretted letting them get in my head.
Now, playing #DnD has rekindled my interest, plus I've gotten much better at not giving a shit about others' opinions. 😂
For better or worse, PDF-formatted documents are an integral part of the electronic ecosystem we live in.
I am sure you have needed to scan some paper documents to PDF format either to send to someone or to file away for later.
There are plenty of PDF scanner apps available, and although they have plenty of advanced functionality they usually require a yearly subscription (don’t get me started) or are littered with ads.
Free simple PDF scanner.
You probably didn’t realise that you already have a simple document-to-PDF scanner right there on your iPhone. It allows you to scan documents, do some simple cropping and editing and save them to your files or send via email etc.
Here is what to do:
Open the Notes app that comes with your iPhone.
Press the new document icon on the lower right of screen.
Select the camera icon on the lower toolbar just above the keyboard.
From the popup menu select Scan Documents.
Position the document in the screen. It will be automatically scanned. Once completed position your next document. When finished hit the Save icon.
You can do some simple editing by selecting the file and selecting the little (what the heck is that….a clapboard, a filmstrip?) icon on the top right (figure 1.)
You can then select the individual page to edit (Figure 2.).
Today I learned Wikipedia has an endpoint to generate PDF files: it is https://nn.wikipedia.org/api/rest_v1/page/pdf/Article_Handle, where nn represents the particular Wikipedia (i.e., en for English, es for Spanish), and Article_Handle is the underscored version of your article title, i.e., HAL_9000 for the article on HAL 9000.

Tonight, if the clouds allow me, I wanted to take pictures with my #Skywatcher Star Adventurer mini. As I'm going to set up a small telescope (a #Celestron C90) I need a very good alignment to the Polar so that I don't have any traces left. #Tips to make an alignment as accurate as possible? Thank you #astrophotography
