Seems like a good time to remind everyone that it was a student in their dorm recording on a cassette recorder who forever captured the order to fire on students by the Ohio National Guard at Kent State
"Mit Frieden im Ostseeraum wirft der Herausgeber ein Schlaglicht auf eine Region, die in der deutschen Geschichtswissenschaft noch immer wenig Beachtung findet."

Es freut mich sehr, dass die erste von mir für hsozkult betreute Rezension erschienen ist.
It's not acceptable to take #hostages when making demands in #civilrights protest. Taking hostage is against the #genevaconventions, making your cause worthless. Not at all #peace.
Modern #terrorists NEED you to lower your standards to claim their cause is your cause. #terrorism
I'm watching these kids protest a genocide and facing suspension, expulsion and physical danger and I'm so filled with pride at the courage. This can change their lives and they are standing up to power. I'm crying my eyes out here
💜Caring for our community takes a collective effort.
Today, I joined the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute and other volunteers in my childhood Dorchester neighborhood to paint the Mother's Day Walk for Peace route purple! 👟💟
We hung flyers and had great conversations with bodega owners, community members, and local businesses to spread awareness about the 28th annual Mother’s Day Walk for #Peace!☮️
Why can't people just be nice to each other and the planet we all live on?
Why can't people help others when they see they are in need?
Why can't country leaders be happy with the amount of land their country already has?
Why can't we just celebrate all our unique cultures and learn from each other?
This is how I was brought up to be. The path of #peace and a beautiful way of life seems so simple, yet so unachievable. My little brain must be faulty because I just don't understand.
In eastern Rajasthan (specifically within Meena/Gurjar communities), two neighboring villages are invited to participate in Kanhaiya Dangal. This ceremony uses Kanhaiya songs to strengthen their unity.
Medeas (the MCs) guide each village through lyrics and musical flow to make connections. The goal being mutual harmony.
🇺🇦🚨 Never Forget: Russia invaded Ukraine, and the war continues. The invaders and their allies, including elected leaders in the US, are relentless in their propaganda efforts. Their objective? To promote disinformation and dehumanize Ukrainians.
But we won’t be silent. To supporters of Ukraine, let’s use social media as our shield. 🛡️
Bansky:
<<A local man came up and said ‘Please – what does this mean?’ I explained I wanted to highlight the destruction in Gaza by posting photos on my website – but on the internet people only look at pictures of kittens.>>
I’ve seen quite a few remarks lately that claim that any and all protests are worthy and one cannot ever criticize the form or fashion of a protest. That’s a bizarre and definitely wrong claim.
Really, nobody with an internet connection should need an example, but I can provide a few if necessary.
I appreciate that people are willing to engage with this topic, because it shows that we all care about peace and justice. Here's a helpful history that I think provides this important perspective that can help everyone stay focused on the goal of #peace when constructing a social narrative:
"Resolution of such a long historical conflict is possible only if each side is [...] willing to approach [the other] as an equal."
When a kid dies in my ER, there are multiple debriefs, and we usually see some of our staff really hurting for days afterwards. It’s a rare thing, it is awful, and everyone from the prehospital providers to the ER registration staff are affected.
Hospitals in Gaza have seen thousands of dead kids since October.
One challenge of #Pesach ( #Passover ) is that besides doing a Seder or two, there is not a lot to do during the rest of the 7 (or 8, depending on your minhag) days of Passover besides maybe attending a festival service and of course avoiding chametz (grain products, except for Matzoh).
So I've been thinking about what I can do to make this time more meaningful. The theme of Passover is about #liberation and #peace, but that is, of course, a complicated thing when so many people, especially in #Palestine / #Israel, do not feel free or safe.
This reflects my intention for the upcoming season of #Pesach, to yearn for peace and liberation for all of the peoples who live in #Palestine / #EretzIsrael
