What he's actually saying - they want to sell user data to AI companies for them to train their models. This should be a reason to delete all your content and leave the platform. In Europe, you should raise a #GDPR-deletion request.

I wanted to access #Emissary using Mastodon clients (like IceCubes and MetaText) but there was no easy way to do it. The Mastodon API is enormous and it took a ton of time just to organize every one of the endpoints. Toot makes it easy.
Hopefully, this helps other Gophers to Mastodon-ize their apps too. I'm all-in on making the Fediverse a better place for developers.

I've submitted the second to last #kbin#API PR for review! This PR adds thread and thread comment retrieval, creation, deletion, editing, voting, reporting, and moderation functionality to the API! The last PR will be very similar to this one, except for microblogs!

Yes, but it did not have any tests written to verify that it worked. These PRs have been resolving that issue so that there can be at least some guarantees that the API works when it gets onto kbin.social and others

While I can snark and say "and nothing of value was lost", that's not true at all. Reams of good, valuable content (admittedly amidst a lot of trash) is now locked away, essentially forever.

I didn't officially log out of #Twitter until the 19th (when he reinstated the Orange Fascist), but I was basically done there a year ago today and began working on the #Mastodon experience for myself.
I kept the bots running there for another week or so (the 25th, I believe) until Apartheid Daddy's stupid mods killed my #API keys for "spamming another user's mentions"... even though the other user was another one of my bots... morons.
a year later and I get all I want online from here. there's news if you look, lots of humor and even #weirdmastodon exists and is as fucked up as you want it. my blocklist is fewer than 10 people somehow as well.
I may bring a bot to Sky just because I'm a #programmer at heart and an API whore, so it'd more for tech testing than anything else.

I'm making up new term: rate-limit anxiety (for APIs)
Context:
When CPython GitHub bots were still using personal access token, we were rate-limited to 5,000 requests per hour.
Now that both miss-islington and bedevere are GitHub Apps and accessing APIs using installation access token, the rate limit is increased, based on the number of users on the GitHub org , and capped at 12,500 requests per hour, relieving our rate-limit anxiety 😌
Is there a more efficient way to check if two accounts follow each other via Mastodon's API, other than fetching followers of both accounts and finding a match?
