On this, the last day of Pride month, the Supreme Court declared it open season for business owners to discriminate against people they don't like.

Are you an artist, independent professional, or business owner in the US? It just got a lot more important for you to signal that you welcome and support queer and trans people 📣

It's not enough to be quietly inclusive in this day and age.

These Supreme Court rulings back to last year's Roe reversal suck. The question is -- are there enough aggrieved people in the "red states" who could oust their current senators up for re-election? Odds look good for a Democratic House. The Senate, sadly, not so much. #uspol #uspolitics #2024 #democracy #democrats

Yesterday #SCOTUS ruled that race shouldn't be considered in college admissions, to do so creates discrimination.

Today SCOTUS ruled discrimination is ok, as long as you're a white christian.

White christians are the most protected class of individuals in this country who've weaponized religious freedom as privilege.

Elections matter don't let perfect be the enemy of the good. This court must be reformed, else they will continue to drag us into the past. #USPol

The US Supreme Court ruled a business can refuse service on the basis the customer is gay.

The US filled with people who wish people like me didn’t exist. They vote for politicians who write laws and appoint judges who deny queer people of equality.

Or you know, just cut to the chase and bring back sodomy laws.

A corrupt Supreme Court majority, given lifetime appointments by Presidents who lost the popular vote, operate in secret without a code of ethics, and are turning back the clock on decades of social justice in America. This case wasn’t even real.

Striking down affirmative action and ending Roe v. Wade didn't happen overnight. For decades, conservatives remained focused, played the long game, held their noses, and voted for imperfect candidates in every election in order to remake the courts.

There is no magic bullet to undo this. Progressives, liberals, and moderates who believe in social justice will have to be as determined and committed to voting over several election cycles.

North carolina just passed a gender affirming healthcare ban on minors yesterday...

Our governor and the legislator will spend about a week or two vetoing it, and then overturning the veto.

Sometime in the next couple of days the supreme court is going to rule on "303 Creative v. Elenis". Which I expect will legalize religious discrimination against lgbtq people, by denying them services.

But "WooHoo!" Fourth of July weekend.

Fucking god forsaken hellscape of a place to be in.

Don’t look now, but a judge just wrote an opinion saying that Heller was bullsh*t, and Clarence Thomas and Antonin Scalia changed the 2nd Amendment— while taking hunting-trip bribes from pro-gun billionaires—which flooded our streets with guns and gets kids massacred.

Crack Heller open. #ExpandTheCourt.

The Scalia Second Amendment is fake, it was created in 2008, and the real 2nd Amendment is about state-sponsored militias only.

Medicare for All would save $450B a year.

Every dollar spent on food stamps generates $1.50-$1.80 in economic activity.

Each dollar going to low-wage workers adds $1.20 to the economy overall.

It’s not about what this country can or can’t afford.

It’s about priorities.

How cruel and insane—and how very American:

"How the Shortage of a $15 Cancer Drug Is Upending Treatment

(...) The nation’s monthslong shortage of highly potent cancer drugs is grinding on, forcing patients and their doctors to face even grimmer realities than those cancer typically presents.

(...) One of the nation’s top cancer care groups, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, is now advising doctors with low quantities of the medications to administer them to patients with a shot at a cure — and to deny them to patients with recurrent or widely spread disease."
