They’re the breeding ground for the extremists & I think overall more damaging because so many people tolerate their “polite” racism rather than feel socially awkward. America was built on slavery. With slave labor and rich resources with a thin population, the country prospered very quickly in the early years.
Those who profited from slavery and their descendants are very much the social and political oligarchs today. They have incidentally congregated in the Republican party with Trump.
People who rap the benefit, the majority population won't speak the truth.
