@StillIRise1963 We need to work to convert every racist we meet especially the polite wouldn’t say it to your face kind. They’re the breeding ground for the extremists & I think overall more damaging because so many people tolerate their “polite” racism rather than feel socially awkward. We need to suck it the fuck up & confront them every fucking time. Others’ll follow your lead but you have to be willing to be the 1st to stand up & the last to sit down. I try hard to live by this.

There are only ~40 million Black people in the US. Population similar to Lagos state in Nigeria (the tiny red part).

There are ~250 million US white folk (~220 non-Hispanic white + ~30 million Hispanic white).

So Biden's "missing" 10% of Black men, is fewer than 2 million. Or less than 1% of white US population.🤡

White voters don't face the massive systemic voter suppression that Black voters do. So increasing white dem turnout is much easier.

So if your boy doesn't win, blame yourselves.

@mekkaokereke. Slightly more than half of what & less than half of w w voted for tRump. But half of us don’t have any friends or family who’ll vote for that fascist puke. No one is demanding. People are imploring on behalf of ALL people because all of the horrible stuff done in the name of racism & every other ism gets exponentially worse for those already persecuted. People of every race & color are asking everyone to help us save everyone. Whites will suffer the least under fascism.

@mekkaokereke We aren’t talking about who voted for Clinton. You were talking about who voted for tRump and the total white vote was around 50% give or take a point one way or the other and that is not most. It’s close to half. Words matter and saying most is the sleight of hand not stating actual numbers.

@mekkaokereke What I was saying is that saying most when it’s 50% give or take a % one way or another is an inadvertent miscommunication based on the mathematical application of the word majority. (The polls do vary but most hover near the 50% mark up or down a % or two I’ve read a bunch because we didn’t want to repeat that disaster.) 52%i isn’t most just as 47% isn’t almost none. Saying Most paints a radically incorrect image.

@mekkaokereke I didn’t dodge anything I stated that most had it near fifty but that not all polls agreed. What I disagreed with is you saying that the total white vote that went tRump which was near 50 constituted “most” white voters. This is a Pew poll from 22 readjusted in 23. Like I said not every poll agreed but most hovered near 50 up or down by very little.

@mekkaokereke We’re talking about a U.S. election. You were specifically talking about white U. S. voters. Usage varies country to country. In US most isn’t usually used that way when the majority is very close to half. Then it’s said “a little more than half”or a “slight statistical” majority. Common usage doesn’t always follow the dictionary/Thesarus. This isn’t a pedantic difference it’s a significant difference in the emotional impact of a word & the least important part of this discussion

So, I went to this beautiful dairy yesterday, and when I got out of the car, one at a time about six dogs of various sizes and types come out to greet me. The last one was a little weiner dog, who just kept barking, and I was worried I was offending him in some way. The owner came out, and said, "Oh don't worry about that, he just loves attention, and belly rubs, but he doesn't know how to get them, so he just keeps barking, and scares people."
And sure enough the moment I crouched down, he stopped barking and rolled on his back for belly scratches. Anyway, I relate to this dog.

so. in January I was in a bad car accident. fractured spine, ruptured discs, cracked pelvis, broken arm. last 4 months have been v hard. tonight though I'm going back to my adult dance class for the first time. I wasn't sure I'd ever even walk properly again so this is a moment for me. a good one

@ElleGray Awww, sorry you’re dealing with that but glad you’re getting thru it the right way. I didn’t ride a bike or skateboard for a few years after my 1st bad accident because I didn’t think I could handle any more pain and was afraid of falling. Long story short I got mugged at Mardi Gras so bad it knocked me into traffic. Next morning covered in bumps & bruises, I stopped being afraid, said fuck it and went rollerblading. Enjoy your dance class! 🥰

@KatM So scary. I’m from Wyoming and the summer that Yellowstone was on fire sent me to the hospital even though I was almost 5 hours away. My parents met there & we went so often as kidlets, I’m pretty sure the bears knew us by name. That was a heartbreaking fire as well. We’re in Illinois now because his moms ill and I’m genuinely worried about the Canadian wild fires. @PandaChronicle @thepoliticalcat

Friends. I don't get it.

I understand the idea of a loan: borrow money, pay it back over time plus a fee for the favor of having more money sooner.

I understand having a company and taking out a loan: borrow money to do something to help the company make more money and pay it off... but it's OK you made enough that it was a good idea.

But HOW can someone borrow money to BUY a company then say the cost of the loan should go on the companies books?

I don't get it. :(

@futurebird That’s your mistake. They absolutely do not care if the company does well. They sell off its assets and pay themselves bonuses and then it goes bankrupt because they saddled it with debt. Next company… lather rinse repeat. Someone else built the company not them, they don’t are about it, the employees or the town it supported. . @MagentaRocks
