I used the last of my energy today to make a loaf of banana bread. It's a warm day so I have the windows and front door open. But it seems I should have used my energy to put up the bug screen to keep the mosquitoes out instead...

@janisf I have life threatening allergies and I love this stuff for mold remediation. The whole food safe bit is perfect, I spray it everywhere. We’re staying in an old farm house of his aunts because his mom has cancer & we want to be here to help and old houses are a mold nightmare. @samhainnight

Somebody woke up EARLY this morning, sang a paean of praise to his water bowl (so loud, it woke me up), ran around the bedroom and bathroom all morning bc if he goes downstairs, Izzy will kick his ass, then screamed to be let out until Izzy (predictably) kicked his ass, right outside the bedroom door, got dragged in to the bedroom again, sang more songs, ran around some more, BANGED on the bathroom door, and, when we opened it, changed his mind. Now sleeping like a bebe.
@GayDeceiver@Alice The redeeming factor was that they got dinged for their terrible behavior a lot and in real life most terrible people don’t. I think that offered some small satisfaction to a lot of people.
HAPPENING NOW: The jury says it wants Merchan to begin the instructions with the part about how they are supposed to consider the evidence and draw inferences -- including the metaphor about how if the ground is wet in the AM, you can infer it rained over night.
This was a fun one, so let's do it again. What is something you've learned that seems unlikely, even though you know it's true? Here's one I think about a lot:
Sight, while being something something many people are born with, is not an innate ability, but something we learn to do. People who were born blind or were blind for a long time, who get sight, have to learn to see.
@RickiTarr I did research on this when I volunteered at a food bank. They get a lot of almost off food. The biggest “save” was that milk that’s soured to the point you wouldn’t drink it, but hasn’t started to solidify, is safe to cook with. Cakes, soups bread etc made with it are safe to eat & the flavor is either not affected or actually improved. Add that milk to the stale doughnuts. & raisins that no one takes & you’ve got all you need for bread pudding, except a little vanilla @mmdolbow
@FeralRobots In some cases spices either retard or reduce spoilage. Cinnamon retards bread mold & cumin reduces spoilage in meat making it safer as well as more flavorful. @BeBo@mmdolbow@RickiTarr
@RickiTarr I wonder if this is why babies respond significantly more positively to well defined lips and eyes. They respond to that inverted triangle before they “see” faces I always wore dark lipstick and way too much mascara & a developmental Psych prof said that was part of why strangers babies cooed at me in supermarkets lol I always figured it was my chest. 😝@FeralRobots
