There are two very wrong, very dangerous claims being made in my mentions right now. One is that nothing ever happens on gun safety. The other is that Democrats have done nothing on the issue.

There’s even an odd third one claiming Democrats haven’t been bipartisan enough on it. These claims are not only wrong but dangerous to efforts to elect people to office who will bring more change. They’re dangerous to efforts to save more lives. Don’t spread such things if you care about helping. 1/3

I love the idea of cities that are far more people-centred than most today, with properly flexible travel options and fewer cars… and maybe we’re not that far away (and not just in Utrecht). Today I had a large box to collect from my sister, so I had a nice run across London to her house, then a cup of tea, and then a PedalMe e-cargo bike arrived to take me and the box home. And it was FUN. More of this! #cities #bikes #ecargo #climate

For those wondering, ′′how did i do it?":
I boiled 10L of water, added 2 tablespoons of vinegar, 1 teaspoon of sodium bicarbonate, two cups of coke, and half cup of lemon juice, then stirred well. Waited 3 minutes, put the pan in the solution for 45 minutes, then added a quarter cup of chlorine bleach to the mixture. Then I brushed it with a firm toothbrush and put it back into the liquid for another 25 minutes. I took it out, rinsed it, and it looked exactly the same, so I threw it away, and went and bought a new one.

Edit: Please don’t actually make this concoction! The resulting mixture may produce poisonous gases! This toot is a joke, the pictures are not even my pans. I didn’t throw any pans away. Following these directions, despite the fact it probably won’t do anything useful, would be fucking stupid and you may win a Darwin Award.

These Nvidia researchers are SO proud of creating #AI tools to generate fake faces... the scourge of Twitter's #disinformation networks. Previously, you could usually detect GAN generated faces by the fixed eye location, but they have eliminated that "problem". @barney @Lowie @TonyStark It took almost that long in Watergate and that way beyond simple compared to this. Remember this case has to be insanely tight with no moving parts they can try to shift. That takes time and every lower conviction adds cement to the final wall we build around them, especially tRump.

The 🔔 Notifications section on Mastodon has two sections at the top, "Mentions" and "All":

  • If you click on Mentions, it will only show you notifications for replies and posts where you are mentioned.

  • If you click on All, it will show you notifications for everything including favourites, boosts, replies, mentions, edits etc.

(Several people asked why their notifications weren't showing boosts or favourites. It turned out they had accidentally clicked on "Mentions" without noticing it.)
