The Western Wayne News #Podcast launches this week! Tune in for a conversation with Morrisson-Reeves #Library director Dena Little about the path that led Dena to that role, and how access to books and information can shape our community life together. https://westernwaynenews.com/podcasts/
"Implementing the #NelsonMemo via an #APC model is antithetical to the equity goals so clearly articulated in the guidance memo and the values of our institutions."
Not sure who needs to hear this today, but remember, your local public library benefits from being used! Usage statistics are how librarians argue for funding! By using this shared service more, you are making it BETTER for everyone else!
It's the glory of the commons, not the tragedy of the commons. Go to the library!!!
A man named Bruno Schröder was a mining engineer for most of his life. When passed away in his 80s in June 2022, he had around 60,000 or so books spread out on the 4 floors of his house in Mettingen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The books likely weigh about the same as 15 modern cars. 📚 #books#library#BookCollection#collection#Germany
Allows you to create a list of #libraries where you have a card (borrowing privileges), and then displays ebook / audiobook availability when you visit certain book pages.
It's very cool and has saved me alot of money (borrowing vs buying).
#introduction Hi! I'm currently working as a librarian in a remote branch of our county system. I'm new to the field as I just started in April and came over from Property Management (which was going to kill me with the cruelty tbh). Would love to meet other #library folks as I'm always looking to learn more. Also, I LOVE #videogames. Currently playing lots of picross and Assassin's Creed Odyssey. ☺️
So #Introductions! I’m not a heavy poster, but lean mostly towards #SciCom and pictures of the #wildlife I spot in my backyard. It’s practically NatGeo up in this central #FL backyard.
If people are smart, it's time to archive the Archive right now. In other words, fork it and turn it unto a decentralized platform. I hope someone out there is working on that.
Plus you have to think libraries need some decentralization as well as this lawsuit could kill libraries as we know them.
We'll see what happens there but the point is the same: the Copyright Cartel and publishers want to kill libraries as we know it and this is the first major step into that goal.
It's time to archive the Archive turn it unto a decentralized platform before it's too late. I hope someone out there is working on that plus libraries need to do this too.
