If people are smart, it's time to archive the Archive right now. In other words, fork it and turn it unto a decentralized platform. I hope someone out there is working on that.
Plus you have to think libraries need some decentralization as well as this lawsuit could kill libraries as we know them.
Here's some updates on the publishers' lawsuit vs. the Internet Archive which could very well mean the end of the not only the archive but libraries in general.
We'll see what happens there but the point is the same: the Copyright Cartel and publishers want to kill libraries as we know it and this is the first major step into that goal.

I'll leave this with a simple fact: If #libraries were invented today or in recent times, the Copyright Cartel and publishers would both ensure that they would not be allowed to exist.
Like I said, this will determine the future of not only the #InternetArchive where a bad ruling effectively kills a vital service but the existence of #libraries as we know it today.
Long story short, not only this affects the future of the #InternetArchive and #libraries altogether but also (as mentioned) fact checking and truthful information as well.
Today is the day oral arguments officially start in the Big Publishing/Copyright Cartel's lawsuit against the @internetarchive which would effectively kill the great service and perhaps #libraries altogether if it goes their way.
Very gutted to hear this decision on a Friday Night Dump no less. Basically Publishers and the Copyright Cartel are basically one win away from not only killing the @internetarchive but also #libraries as we know them. I and many others hope that the Second Circuit gets it right to keep this alive.
FACT: if libraries were created today, they would be extinct. Pay very close attention to this case as this would be a very huge blow to the profession of preservation and archiving plus a win for privatization and control.
