The general impression is that AH was an uber patriot who took his country to great heights and put irksome minorities in their place or eliminated them. #Modi's resemblance to AH is what gets him elected...that is very much his USP.
This is yet another in a series of bizarre economic self-goals by the #Indian government in recent times. Really gives the sinking feeling that we have a bunch of illiterates or crazies frantically twiddling switches and turning dials without understanding the implications of their policy decisions.
Aaah! Sorely missing #Family - my sister today. She was slated to come to the US in 2020 for #Odissi performances and I missed that. Yes, I did catch up with her in India just this past Dec, but not the same. If it's one regret I have it's that I never got to watch much of her work/artistry. And for the rest of Thanksgiving, we made two dishes. The first is an old favorite of ours - our own variation on Irani Vegetarian Berry Pulao. It is mostly a recipe from Madhur Jaffrey's "Vegetarian India" with some root vegetables added. We did this last year and it was mind-blowingly good!
Meanwhile in the #GulfofOman, the #Iranians have boarded (in international waters) the #oil tanker the #AdvantageSweet & have taken it into Iranian waters... they're claiming its been involved in a decision (a claim disputed by the owners); it was carrying oil on its way to the USA; but it has an #Indian crew.
next steps? who knows but we might expect it be used as a lever in one of Iran's disputes?

Got myself a one-person feast at Desi Bites in #Beaverton! 😆🎉 They’re not “Abhiruchi level” (i.e. the best #Indian food in all of #PDX, except located in Vancouver WA) but I loved getting a bit of everything with their vegetarian thali which comes with a single bite of dessert - the perfect portion! The egg curry was a bit too sweet for me, but I’m coming back for #vegan sambar on Tuesdays!

I really don't like how all these phone #scammers from #India have primed me to suspect everyone with an #indian accent of being a scammer. It feels racist to think about, and I know the vast majority of indians aren't engaging in this sort of organized crime, and it's their government's fault for enabling it.
Hopefully international pressure can get the Indian government to do something about the level of organized crime in their country.
I am curious to know what fonts people are using for the Devanagari script. I want good #hindi rendering. Please don't suggest fonts which use a character map to render Latin characters as Devanagari characters.
