I have been working hard towards evolving into a tempered & calm person.
But OMFG, just plain elated that some of the most bigoted effing creeps and fungal infections of this world, have not won seats in the #Indian elections! 🙌🏽
We went out for shopping on #Saturday. Met up with a friend and went to Thaliva Indian Kitchen in Park Ridge. It is a place we have been wanting to go to for a while after someone told us it some of the best South Indian in #Chicagoland. We got dosas and finished the day with a South Indian Filter Coffee. Worth a trip out on the Metra!
My wife, a maternal and child health #epidemiologist , brought these back from the National #Tribal#Health Conference. I think it’s the general tagline of the National #Indian Health Board. Really perfect for #masks
Pudina means mint leaves in Indian.
This traditional chutney side dish is #nutritious & aids in #digestion. This is the #SouthIndian version. North India has different version.
Taken at Patel Brothers on Devon Avenue during one of our frequent trips to get good food and groceries. Since I started posting here, I notice certain things more often and this photo just struck me.
I am curious to know what fonts people are using for the Devanagari script. I want good #hindi rendering. Please don't suggest fonts which use a character map to render Latin characters as Devanagari characters.
Suggestions for other #indian language fonts are also appreciated. Thanks!
We wanted to make something good tonight so we made Gatte Ki Subzi together ❤️
A Rajasthani dish made of besan dumplings in yogurt sauce, it is one of our favorite dishes.
We are thinking about doing something more elaborate like this every Thursday evening as a way to start the weekend a bit early (since we both have WFH on Fridays 😊).
Finally got around to making the Paneer last night. Decided to make Paneer Khurchan. One of our favorite restaurants in Chicago (“Essence of India” in Lincoln Square) does it really well and we were craving it. It is not a dish you often see on a menu here in the US.
I don't care where you got your whole urad daal (black lentils) or that you're going to pressure cook - make sure you pick through first before rinsing and using
Got myself a one-person feast at Desi Bites in #Beaverton! 😆🎉 They’re not “Abhiruchi level” (i.e. the best #Indian food in all of #PDX, except located in Vancouver WA) but I loved getting a bit of everything with their vegetarian thali which comes with a single bite of dessert - the perfect portion! The egg curry was a bit too sweet for me, but I’m coming back for #vegan sambar on Tuesdays!
(I went to see Monkey Man afterwards, which sadly contained 0% Indian food… but 500% Dev Patel! 🇮🇳🔥)
Ikhlas was from #Ethiopia#Africa who came to #India in c1600 CE
Many of the immigrants who came from there rose to important positions in the courts of various courts of the #Indian Kingdoms.
Perfect for a wet dreary evening: pakodas appetizer - mostly onions, chiles, cilantro, and some besan (+salt, chile powder) to bring it all together. Enough liquid in them onions to wet and hold it all. #Food#Cooking#Indian
#Malaysia's #Assam state has scrapped an 89 yr old law allowing marriage involving #underage#Muslims, against opposition from leaders of minority community who called the plan an attempt to polarise voters on religious lines ahead of elections.
Assam, which has thighest percentage of Muslims among #Indian states at 34%, has previously said it wants to implement uniform #CivilLaws for marriage, divorce, adoption & inheritance.
I really don't like how all these phone #scammers from #India have primed me to suspect everyone with an #indian accent of being a scammer. It feels racist to think about, and I know the vast majority of indians aren't engaging in this sort of organized crime, and it's their government's fault for enabling it.
Hopefully international pressure can get the Indian government to do something about the level of organized crime in their country.

The site is on the traditional territory of the #Similamix People in #BritishColumbia. The Upper #Similkameen#Indian Band offered the name, which means “a listening device for outer space”.
