The fact that you paid for your 3D printer doesn't mean that any of that money reached the developers giving their time to create and maintain the software it runs.
The rule of thumb is that if you use free open-source software, please consider sponsoring the developers and maintainers of said software.
Happy Xmas mastodon, here's a small gift.
I won't be able to continue with my #makerspace activities, so I'm offering up the training materials I made for any other makers to use for their grasshoppers. All of the info specific to our space has been taken out, so you can put your own info in!
These docs cover #welding (MIG and TIG), #epilog#lasers , #prusa#3dPrinter , and #Formlabs#ResinPrinter , and pair well with @sjpiper145 skill trees for makers!
Happy making!
Can any of my #Maker / #3DPrinter friends help my sister create a medical item that would otherwise be expensive to replace?
Her life-limited foster child needs this plastic mouthpiece from a medical device but it's no longer available and alternatives are expensive.
We have no idea whether this is possible with medically safe material and, if so, how to go about it. #3DPrint#Help
I've failed with this moon litophane a few times already, but this time everything worked out great. Even though I'd set the print speeds to extra slow my poor little cantilever #3DPrinter was vibrating something fierce once it started gaining some height (and weight). The result is absolutely stunning though!
Took a measly 60 hours (printed slow and at high quality)...
FREE 3D Printer! Any #UK#maker that wants this customised and upgraded Ender 2 #3dprinter just needs to come and collect it from J4/J5 M40 ASAP, ideally this weekend.
I gave about 20 of these away, back when I had a big following on the other site, before it became a festering shitpile and this is the last one I have left. It was the testbed for customisation, so it's fully loaded!
This, my friends, is why you don't buy #ConsumerElectronics that use a #cloud service. If it won't run without an #Internet connection? DO NOT BUY IT.
(Other reasons to avoid cloud services include privacy issues, devices becoming unusable after purchase, and a high potential for the device to be hacked.)
The first six #RedHat cookie cutters are printed. Many more to come :) Now to get some ingredients and food Color to actually make and bake the cookies :)
The video does a nice job of explaining things and offers some insight/opinion, about Bambu taking responsibility, and eating a lot of cost, giving away a LOT of extra credit. For example, full refund PLUS $80 towards a new printer. etc.
They are really stepping up and taking full responsibility
Is there a Mastodon mascot 3D model? I'm sure someone on Mastodon would be able to create a cute Mastodon Mascot 3D Model for 3D Printing. I'd love to print one for my desk. Please boost til we find one.
I'm hype as fuck! I spent the week dog sitting for my brother in law and he's giving me his #3Dprinter as payment. I thought I was doing it to hang out with his cool dogs! But now I'm getting a slightly used Ender V3 se!
My contribution to the old ladies (and old ladies at heart) of the world is my cup-and-saucer display stand which you can download and #3Dprint at your leisure for free.
Just saw a post come through from user #brownsworld1 on #thingiverse who has printed that handy display stand which I designed several years ago.
Using #FreeCAD and my #3DPrinter to make an extremely specific clamp for a laporoscopic repair on a broken plywood #mandolin. This one will go through the f-hole to clamp a loose brace to the top. The holes accommodate an M6 bolt and cross dowel.
I hope this works, otherwise I'll have to take the back off, which is way more hassle!
Hey #3Dprinter frens, how do you draft something that attaches to an already-existing physical object?
Do you digitally scan the object in somehow (how? any app or hardware recommendations?), or do you digitally model a blank and do multiple iterations/test prints to tweak your design (seems time-consuming but satisfying)?
<30dB is so quiet, that each time a limit switch clicks, it feels like a gunshot! This is how quiet I got my #3Dprinter to print. Exploring various steps of making your machines silent. From budget-friendly options to watercooling for the ultimate performance! #net_r#3dprinting https://notenoughtech.com/3dprint/silent-3d-printing/
3D printing random things to use up the last of a spool of filament and make sure settings are ok since I switched from SuperSlicer to PrusaSlicer today.
Eyeball diff of settings because the configs are too different due to extra settings in SuperSlicer and my Prusa settings were a version or two old.
The other day I upgraded the OctoPi install and also Klipper but that didn't change the printing any.
Just spreading the word, there has been a Recall concerning BambuLab Ai printers. It does not affect the A1 Mini.
The part specifically is the heatbed cable, if there are signs of damage they are offering a replacement, if there are no signs of damage, they give some simple tips to prevent the issue, including a printable cable-protector.
More details in the link above,atBambuLab's blog post about the issue.
My primary #3Dprinter died in the middle of a big multi-print session. Had it all apart yesterday to see the remedial work I did on the hot end last year isn't cutting it anymore.
Part I need is a new PTFE heatsink throat liner, but it's an OD of about 3.5 - 3.8mm (depending on which calipers I believe) which doesn't seem to be sold anywhere. 3mm is prob too small and 4mm (of which I have plenty) is too big.
Ordered some 3mm overnight anyway. Will try it today.
