Kenneth Branagh's latest Agatha Christie adaptation, "A Haunting in Venice," will be in theaters in the U.S. on Sept. 15, with a cast including Jamie Dornan, Tina Fey, Michelle Yeoh and of course, Kenneth Branagh as bewhiskered detective Hercule Poirot. In this slideshow, A.V. Club has ranked the best Christie movies and TV shows, going back to 1945's "And Then There Were None." Who's your favorite Poirot?

My mom (RIP) used to favor Ustinov in the films. I prefer more Suchet but having watched the Ustinov films I can understand her preference a bit more.

I am intrigued by this new film because it is not one of the usual Christie adaptations (Orient Express, Death on the Nile, And then none...).

Mom used to read Christie in Spanish translation (Oveja Negra editions). I recently started reading some of the novels, again, in part to understand her a bit more. That is another tale.

@bloodravenlib Yes, the new one's trailer makes it look like a horror movie, which is interesting since Christie always had a non-supernatural solution to her crimes!

I am going to try and see if I can find the story/book to read before I see the film.

@bloodravenlib The novel is called Hallowe'en Party.

@CultureDesk

Just saw that. I was going to go find a copy in WorldCat, and saw Suchet did an adaptation in 2010.

For reference (for me and others): an edition of the book:

https://www.worldcat.org/title/980362511

The Suchet adaptation is, among other places in, vol. 12 of the Poirot series.

My local public has the series run, I need to go find it (after I read the book).

@CultureDesk

You're welcome. Paz y amor.

dan613,

@CultureDesk You had me at Tina Fey. Don't really care who else is in it, though I do enjoy Branagh. I'm sure he's fine.

@dan613 The trailer for this one is very interesting because it looks like a horror movie until right at the end, where it's revealed to be a Poirot film.

@CultureDesk This poll’s options should all be a David Suchet. There is no other Hercule Poirot.
