My version of the character Ada from "Ada & Zangemann", a Creative Commons license (BY-SA) book for children and a funny story about Free/Libre and Open-Source. It's written by Matthias Kirschner and illustrated by Sandra Brandstätter. It is great to see new characters in the Free Culture, especially because Ada is so cool. 💜
You can find it printed in English, French, German, Italian → https://fsfe.org/activities/ada-zangemann/

I ordered a gorgeous #lateart of #peppercarrot from @davidrevoy at Reissue Cafe in Tokyo.

It also felt cool that I was probably one of the only customers asking to reproduce a drawing they were formally allowed to use thanks to #CreativeCommons ❤️

I'm old enough to remember how @creativecommons was founded as a way for independent creators to safely share their work and build upon each other.

In 2024, their take is now "billion dollar companies plagiarizing your art is fair use".

https://creativecommons.org/2023/02/17/fair-use-training-generative-ai/

Hats off to the author, you don't see that kind of, uh, skillful rhetoric chicanery every day. Like "generative AI doesn't compete with artists because artists are not in the data market". 😬

What do the Prime Minister of France, the founder of #CreativeCommons, the COs of #RedHat and @opensuse and thousands of children have in common? They all love 💕 "Ada & Zangemann - A Tale of Software, Skateboards, and Raspberry Ice Cream"

💥 We want to go create an animated movie about Ada’s story!

🚀 To produce the movie in English, French, German, and Italian will cost us €40,000. Your donation will make a difference for many children who will be inspired by Ada!

Dear enthusiast,
fellow musicians,

have you considered a license for your music?

I would highly recommend giving it a thought or two. I have the feeling, that most musicians out there are still somewhat shy of it, due to a lack of understanding.

If you dealt with it properly and still want to use "all rights reserved" that's absolutely fine.

But maybe you could inform yourself about all the options.
