"Geometry hates Tesla, and physics hates Starlink. Reality has a leftist bias. The future is fiber, and public transit. These are both vastly preferable, more efficient, safer, more reliable and more plausible than satellite and private vehicles. Their only disadvantage is that they fail to give an easily gulled, thin-skinned compulsive liar more power over billions of people. That's a disadvantage I can live with."

Great piece by @pluralistic

@rsf92 @pluralistic except things aren't black and white, and that is the major flaw in the 'green' reasoning.

I recently recommended starlink to a place that won't get fiber in a few decades (if ever), and incidentally there's a bus once or twice a day so going to a shop (there are none in the town) would be a full day or even overnight affair.

I've had a telraam (telraam.net V1) for many years and I realize it is pretty useless, whatever stats it picks up are just ignored by the city (flat out denying the data) so I've decided to toss it.

What a waste of money that was :(

today in hoplr (neighborhood social media thing) a discussion about SodaStream alternatives wat hot topic and I thought it was about price or taste (and since I don't use it I ignored the topic)

But since it kept being 'hot' I checked the discussion and it turns out SodaStream is from Israel and folks are dumping it massively

So now you know too: dump SodaStream (apparently you can use alternative CO2 canisters)

๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

https://www.vrt.be/vrtnws/nl/2023/05/04/digitale-overheidsdiensten/

peturdainn,
@peturdainn@mastodon.social avatar

๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

peturdainn,
@peturdainn@mastodon.social avatar
