@rsf92@pluralistic As someone who left a fiber connection in Japan for Comcast (ewww) cable (ewww) and now a fixed wireless connection in the USA, I can 100% attest to how much better fiber is. And it was cheaper!
At least my fixed wireless connection is run by a local ISP.

@rsf92@pluralistic Utah has some weirdly progressive stuff going on. The broadband mentioned, the support for vote-by-mail (now under assault), & a house-the-homeless initiative all were successful. Not complaining, mind you...
@rsf92@pluralistic except things aren't black and white, and that is the major flaw in the 'green' reasoning.
I recently recommended starlink to a place that won't get fiber in a few decades (if ever), and incidentally there's a bus once or twice a day so going to a shop (there are none in the town) would be a full day or even overnight affair.
