Returned from holiday and was puzzled that access to port 80 of any device on my IoT VLAN was blocked.
I really didn´t change a thing - as a rule I don't change stuff at least 1 week before leaving on holiday (let's call it 'experience')
Connect to the VLAN directly the devices were there and accessible,
The likely culprit was the ER-X.

Rebooted it and issue fixed.

I think I'm going to move the 'replace router' task to a higher priority on my TODO

could design a mold and 3D print it

I think I managed to design the mold, consisting of 5 parts

slicer told me the total printing time is 11 hours

Upgrade 25 to 26 just fails, the only clue is a pending PR where a maintainer stated that he thinks users should learn how the use databases

Well I firmly disagree. I'm not interested in becoming a database expert to use your crap

Parts arrived for an upcoming intermezzo project: converting two very old nightlights to something modern (LED light).
Will need to create some internal structure with the 3D printer to mount the LED socket, and have it high enough.
They once served the kids of my brother-in-law, and after conversion they will serve the grandkids

opinion: it should be forbidden to use the word 'buy' for anything that is a time-limited license.

If your business model is paying every month/year, the word to use is 'rent'

You're not buying a domain and you're not buying a software license (that has to be renewed every x time)

Our new electricity meter now measures in and outgoing flows separately (paying peanuts for outgoing, of course) and the 'solution' that is being presented to us is that we need to consume when the sun shines by doing laundry or using the dishwasher.

Fair enough, but that's not how these machines work.

Both washing machines and dishwasher are actually only consuming in peak moments.

End result: peak usage during day ($$$) and still outgoing flow, so we pay more :(

Planned power outage in our street, time to test UPS setups.

First observation: no alert to mobile because ISP cabinets outside are also dead, so having the modem on UPS does nothing in this case.

Network equipment UPS went flat after 44 minutes

NAS UPS still indicating near full after 50 minutes.

NAS protection set to 90 minutes just before network went down, unless I plug a direct cable from the laptop this is when it will halt as well.

Of course, main use case is short or local cuts

Laser engraver learning curve: no two materials react the same, which is fun if you only have one item to engrave and no similar ones to test first.

Two different shiny metal things here prove hard to etch/engrave.

Saw posts about sprays, not in shops here.

Saw post about using mustard on reddit, thought that was a joke.

Confirming that the mustard tip was a joke. Nice smell though.
