Dear colleagues (e.g. @Reuters @nytimes @washingtonpost @TheEconomist @AP ), in 2024, there is no “climate change sceptic” (which is what @geertwilderspvv is sometimes called e.g.).

You either accept the reality of rampant man-made climate change - or you are a denialist.

Gestern Bürgerversammlung zum geplanten Windpark in . Sehr zivile Diskussion. Stadtwerke und sogar Polarisierer Palmer haben gute Argumente gebracht und die Bürgerinitiative („rettet den Rammert“) argumentativ entkräftet.

Aber auffällig: In dem 2-stündigen offenen Fragenteil ging es fast nur um uns, unsere Häuser, unser Wald, unsere Lebensqualität. Der einzige, der das große Ganze ansprach, die Wucht der Klimakrise im globalen Süden, unsere Pflicht selbst zu handeln, war der Pfarrer.

@cmmdmx Ich hab auch mal so gedacht und hier in Frankreich war Paris DAS Beispiel für Autochaos + Gestank. Dann kamen wenige Jahre des Wandels: ich erkenne die Stadt nicht wieder. Genauso Strasbourg: es ist inzwischen widerlich, dort ein Auto benutzen zu müssen und so wunderbar und entspannt ohne.
Vielleicht geht das in Autodeutschland langsamer, aber es geht, wenn man nur will! 😉

@cmmdmx Genau das macht man ja in Frankreich. In Paris bauen sie seit Jahren die Innenstadt regelrecht um (ich such mal Fotos, wenn ich zurück bin).
Dazu kommen Subventionen (u.a. für Fahrräder, ÖPNV statt Dienstwagen etc), höhere Parkpreise etc.
Das lief übrigens alles mit Bürgerbeteiligung bei jedem Schritt, wie im Bürgerparlament. Und war wohl darum so effektiv.

@cmmdmx Wer verteufelt hier? Ich fahre auch Auto, weil es auf dem Land nicht anders geht. Aber Autodenke haben wir genug. Ich lebe im 21. Jhdt. und will mir ausdenken, wie die Welt besser wird. Darum schadet es absolut nichts, sich gute Beispiele öfter anzuschauen!

@pikarl Wenn du dein "Ergo" etwas umformulierst: "Ich möchte, dass Kinder in Frieden groß werden" - ist es nicht mehr egoistisch. Denn deine Kinder haben ja ne Menge Mitkinder auf diesem Planeten.
Im Gegenteil, das ist ein verdammt gutes Zukunftsprogramm!

@CorinnaVahrenk1 Ganz schlimm, ich hab grad im Moment eine zusammengestaucht, nachdem sie mir blöd kam und mich mitten im Satz auf Musik gesetzt hatte, aber nun immerhin heute vormittag einen Termin beim Arzt. Das kostet die Krankenkasse wieder extra, aber ich kann mit einem vernunftbegabten, echten Menschen reden und bekomme dann auch meine Überweisung. Inzwischen könnt ich vor Schmerzen schreien und hoffe, dass es nicht schon ein Bänderriss ist. Danach gibt's ne Bewertung bei Google. So.

Portugal is crushing it: renewables met 91% of Portugal’s electricity needs in the first 4 months this year & have pushed their⚡️prices to a 4 yr low!

Renewables are carrying an increasing % of their electrcity demand in the first 4 months in 2024:

  • 95% April
  • 91% March
  • 88% Feb
  • 81% in Jan

Portugal’s rapid transition is evidence it can be done: renewables are up from 27% in 2005 & 54% in 2017 with their last coal power plant shut down in 2021.
