Von der Leyen backs Polish, Greek calls for EU air defense shield

“We have to have a common air defense shield for all of Europe, like it was proposed by Mitsotakis and Tusk,” the Commission chief said.

I agree with this, we just need to improve our military capability, we should also look i quickly and we can set up defence posts too.

even if this means building them NOW so they are ready to use.

This is staggeringly depressing.

"Most lawn equipment is gasoline powered, typically being one of two types: two-stroke or four-stroke engines. To fuel this equipment, it takes about 800 million gallons of gasoline annually, with 17 million additional gallons spilled in the process."

"EPA data has found that gas-powered lawn mowers make up five percent of total air pollution in the United States, amounting to even more in urban areas."

zleap,

@Shivviness

Given the dangers of battery powered devices catching fire how much pollution is released by these fires in comparision to useing gasoline powered devices such as mowers?

So the Environmental Agency, is embarrassed to reveal the true state of our environment...

They find it difficult to answer prescient questions from NGOs with significant expertise (the implications being, better informed that the EA staff) & (it would seem) would like the NGO's Q.s to be more simply put to help EA staff offer better answers?

If you wanted a picture of a failing regulatory agency this would be it....

Why do female ENT (ear, nose and throat) assistants invariably have feeble squeaky voices?!

They: ………—…—-…
Me: ARE YOU TALKING TO ME?
They: …..
Me: COULD YOU SPEAK UP PLEASE, I CANNOT UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU’RE SAYING WITHOUT MY HEARING AIDS!

Best is when I’m in a busy waiting room trying to catch the moment they squeak my name

It seems a lot of people are no longer capable of speaking a clear voice, loud enough to hear but not shouting.

If I watch old pathe or bbc news footage where the presenter is using what we probably call the queen's English I can hear / understand every word.

Now people seem to just mumble or whisper as if this is how one should be talking.

Where does the buck stop at the Post Office? https://www.taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/2024/05/24/where-does-the-buck-stop-at-the-post-office/ Paula Vennells' performance at the Post Office inquiry appears variously naive, incompetent or brazen. We cannot be sure. However, what can be suggested is that it seems likely she was never suited to the task of being Post Office CEO. In that case, who appointed her, why, and are they also responsible for what has happened?

Vital point:

The date of the general election seems designed to disenfranchise young people as much as possible, since most university students who vote do so at their term-time address. Universities are in recess on 4 July & many students will be at their parents’ or between university accommodation. Please make sure anyone you know in this situation registers at an appropriate address, preferably with a postal vote.

Both sides have committed crimes, by hauling BOTH sides in they both get a chance to put their side of the story, October 7 was not in isolation, was it a result of years of action against the Palestinian people for example, it was part of an ongoing conflict. What explanation does israel have for killing 37K civilians, including doctors, journalists etc, why has repeated calls for a 2-state solution been rejected.

For months, we have urged President Biden to break from Prime Minister Netanyahu and use more diplomatic leverage to stop the killing in Gaza. Netanyahu and his government are perpetrating a brutal war with enormous civilian loss of life, through direct bombing and gunfire, as well as from restriction of food, water, and medicine. Netanyahu has regularly disregarded the Biden administration’s guidance and requests regarding military strategy and the delivery of humanitarian assistance.

Researchers analyzed 15 years of data from Augsburg University Hospital and found a 7% increased risk of stroke following tropical nights. The study emphasizes the need for adaptation strategies and urban planning adjustments to mitigate the impact on public health.

Killing docs, journalists, children women, not to mention people stripped and bound, now getting reports palestinians are treated like this in hospital.

I hope the ICJ remember some of this so Netanyahu can be stripped naked, beaten & bound and left in is custody cell. After all if doing that to Palestinians is fine then it is fine for Netanyahu and the IDF who are also on trial.
