#KnowNothing#CardiB is too stupid to realize that NOT voting for #Biden is a vote FOR #Trump, and that her boycott of #Election2024 could be her last — She might not get another opportunity to vote EVER.
The quip about Smith comes amid rumours that the former president is showing signs of dementia, with an expert telling the Mirror that Trump's behaviour in court during the hush money trial — specifically, his constant snoozing and alleged farting — including an unintelligible run of phrases during his "Gettysburg Address" campaign speech weeks ago, are indicative of his declining cognitive state. #trump #jacksmith #election2024 #2024Election https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/us-news/donald-trump-makes-embarrassing-blunder-32840638
"The media and the general public—both in New York City and beyond—instantly believed these five black and Latino youth were guilty of the crime without giving them a fair chance of proving their innocence."
@lindamarie not surprising at all - just as #GinniThomas has participated openly and actively in #insurrection activities #Alito and his wife have done the same. #Trump#GOP created and executed the roadmap. None of the justices will #recuse and there is no process in place to remove them. #Election2024 is critical. Everyone Please #Vote.
The fascist project 2025 receive funding from Koch network & Leonard Leo. The project is also heavily promoted by MAGA-criminals ie:Steve Bannon, who has called it the “blueprint” for Trump dictatorship.
▫️ Disappear the word abortion from all rule, legal & government laws. It will not exist in America. Thousands of Women and Girls will die.
▫️ Deny birth control coverage.
▫️ Reverse a Biden policy that requires hospitals to offer abortions in medical emergencies to save Women's life. Forcing her death and denying medical aid.
▫️ DoJ for (arrest political adversaries or enemies)
▫️ End the Department of Education.
▫️ Allow disinformation from Russia and China.
▫️ FBI will have no ability to warn or stop disinformation from Russia or China.
Martin Kettle (Guardian) suggests 'A change of government for Britain will be a big & fascinating process. It will affect – well, almost everything in some way'!
He thinks big/historic change(s) will come with the accession of Labour to power, but many here (on Mastodon) are not so sure.
Indeed, this is perhaps the biggest Q. in UK (domestic) politics right now... what will be the balance between continuity & change in 2025?
I'm voting for Joe Biden in November and intend to continue donating to help him get reelected because: (1) the U.S. is in much better shape now than it was under the former president; and (2) many of the things that could be better (e.g., the makeup of the Supreme Court) are a direct result of the last president being in office.
No caveats.
No "even though..."
The rest of you can vote however you like, but my mind is made up.
Many Americans believe Congress could be fixed with a simple solution: Throw the bums out with term limits.
But that creates more problems than it solves, says political scientists.
For one, members in their legally mandated final term in office enjoy a kind of "senioritis" -- and experience apathy toward being productive in their final year, because they don't have to face the voters again at the ballot box.
Team Starmer & the unions have come away from their summit today all suggesting that they have reached a deal on the New Deal for Working People, which the unions assert has seen a recommitment to its original shape & goals.
From cynics corner this looks like both sides deciding this argument can wait until after the election & for now it will pay to be seen not to be squabbling...
So, if/once labour gain power, the debate on workers rights will quickly flare up (again)
After 75 years of failure, one would imagine that a people would learn what works and what doesn’t, both from their own experience, as well as the experience of others.
Poll stories are easy to do. Lay out the numbers, find a poli-sci professor to comment on them, and you’re done. But when that’s the substance of a #news outlet’s #political coverage, who’s up and who’s down like it’s all a big wacky game, the impact of politicians’ decisions get reduced to their effect on the numbers.
@Athenae digs into how election-year media builds entire news cycles around a glut of polls that misinform us.
