Turns out Gannett did not censor that Doonesbury strip about censorship--in fact, they are killing the "Doonesbury" strip altogether, to make way for some new blood on the comics page, including "Ziggy," "Marmaduke," "Born Loser" and "Peanuts" reruns.

Today's hearing is about requesting a permission (!) to appeal (!) his extradition to the US (!) where he faces certain death in prison for his work as a journalist and publisher.

I was sad to learn that recently retired #McMasterUniversity #Chemistry Professor Willie Leigh died on February 4th after a brief illness. He was a passionate and talented physical organic chemist, as well as a dedicated #MacChem faculty member. My condolences to his family, former group members, and bandmates. 🪦

"In the degrowth literature, a caricature of the typical economist is presented as believing in unlimited economic growth, and that growth should be pursued regardless of its environmental impact. And economists usually limit their projections to a few decades to come, rather than to the infinite future, in which they supposedly believe in unlimited exponential economic growth. Certainly, there are theoretical economic growth models which portray the possibility of exponential growth into the infinite future, but economists have had enough common sense not to assume stylised theoretical models are the be-all-and-end-all when it comes to public policy."
