Really, really, really still trying to find My People here on Mastodon. Am I on the wrong server or something? I'm a self-employed #artist / #maker / #writer ... I make #ceramics ( #pottery )... dye #yarn ... #knit ... read #sciencefiction ... have two #dogs and eleven #cats ... am a recent #widow who loves to talk about what a wild ride #grief is ... and I'm a #Floridian scared shitless for my #BiPOC and #lgbtqia friends and family. Is that enough tags? Hello? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
In #Shetland, bog cotton is known as Lucky Minnie's Oo (wool). A witch from Shetland folklore, Lucky Minnie was said to roam the hills in summer collecting this plant. She then processed it on a card from the fairies and used to #knit her clothes
This mirrors the practice at the time where folk without #sheep
would search the landscape for small pieces of #wool cought in fences or in the heather. If they gathered enough they could make a little knitwear #folklore
I got a surprising amount of work done quickly this morning plus started dinner so I found some yarn upstairs that wasn't going to work for the pattern I had planned it for. instead , we'll #knit a hat. I cast on and did the first two rounds of ribbing.
Saw this on Instagram and had to track down the pattern. I really love the colours used in this sample.
Think it would be a perfect way to use up all those left-over yarn from old projects.
This is a very simple scarf I’m making, but I really love it. I’m using just a garter stitch to highlight the inherent softness of this yarn (Urth Yarns sock) and make a loose-feeling, comfy knit, and ensure that the yarn's pattern is the scarf’s only pattern: beautiful evolving stripes.
Had a rummage in my stash and was surprised to find a number of yarns I can use for the Mitred Blanket.
Think I'll sort out then start with the lightest. Probably buy a couple of mini skeins in shades I'm missing. https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/knitted-patchwork-recipe
A lot of things slipped my first #introduction, I’m amending to it now.
I talk about #gym and #WeightLifting sometimes. It’s something I’ve started recently and brainstorming about it on social always helped
I used to be an #yarn addict. Still #crochet and #knit time to time. #crafters are near and dear to my heart!!
I mean I can’t possibly list everything I talk about! I have too many interests for my own good. Stick around, maybe you’ll find something we have in common ☺️💕
I think I am probably in the perfect nexus of data-lovers, covid-cautious people, and crafters to ask this:
Has anyone out there made a #knit or #crochet cozy for a CO2 monitor (I just got an #aranet4) that helps cushion it from bumps but also keeps it functional with good airflow? Thanks!
