Got a tin of chocolates for Xmas. They were delicious. As the old tin I used for some of my knitting notions had finally died, I transferred everything into the new one.
No matter how many times my grandkiddies come, they still have to check in case miraculously the tin contains chocolate again.😅 😜
When robbing Peter to pay Paul makes sense- a whole lot of sense.
When I lived in Toronto with my daughter last year, I took the chance to buy a few good yarns. I found CaMaRose Løvetand, knowing it's the ideal yarn for those of us who live in hell, er, tropical climate. I started Outline Tee by Jessie Maed which I finished when I returned to Manila. I wore it a couple of times, but did not like it. So I frogged it to knit this top by Beth MacDonald instead. #knitting#knittersofmastodon
I definitely need to sort out my yarn.
I have yarn in baskets, in cupboards, and alongside my chair.
The two baskets alongside my chair are my 'working' (...er, um...lol) ones, they're holding the current WIPs that I pick up regularly.
The cupboards hold my main stash and patterns, needles, etc...
Then there are the hand-dyed yarn clubs I belong to that mean I get more each month.
Of course - collecting yarn and using yarn are two different hobbies 😂 😅 😜
Frogging (tinking) it!
Got side track when I started these socks. Made up the pattern as I went but didn't bother writing it down.
Picked it up again a few months later and a) can't remember what row I'm up to, b) what the hell I did, and c) I no longer like the design...lol.
Normally I scribble something out & leave it with the project, this time I didn't. 😜
Summer vibes
I hate how hot it is in Manila. It's not enough to be hot, it's gotta be sticky and humid too.
I wore my latest finished shirt last Sunday when my knitting friends and I met. It was cool enough to not reduce me to a melted mess. Pattern is Shima Tee by Noriko Ichikawa. I used Berroco Modern Cotton DK. #knittersofmastodon#knitting #IWearWhatIKnit#IKnitWhatIWear
Remember that sweater I started in January? I finished it a long time ago. So here it is, in all its finished glory. I will knit a companion piece in this length so I end up with a tunic sweater. It looks good on me too, don't you think? The pattern, BTW, is Tea With Jam and Bread by Heidi Kirrmaier. #knitting#knittersofmastodon #IKnitWhatIWear#IWearWhatIKnit
Working on March's square in the Makealong blanket. Colour is part of the Seascape series hand-dyed by https://fiberlily.com.au/product/make-along-club/.
Found I need to concentrate on this one...🤪
The technique of steeking has always fascinated me. 2024 is the year that I will take my scissors and cut a finished pullover to end up with a cardigan. Here I have finished the colorwork section and am about to insert short rows to raise the back. Wish me luck with my first attempt!
BTW, the pattern is Azucena Cardigan by Nadia Crétin-Léchenne (https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/azucena-cardigan) #knitting#knittersofmastodon#wip
Upon our return home, a series of unfortunate events occurred during which a human member of the household who isn’t me melted a red plastic bucket with a wool skirt in it. It’s fine; we all set buckets on fire sometimes.
BUT: I fixed it! I picked up stitches from the cut off burned areas, and my technique got better with time. It was actually a pretty quick repair project. I’m not saying you SHOULD burn plastic onto your clothes, but if you do…
Ehem, new favorite finished object... This is Isabell Kraemer's Fjolla which I made with short sleeves. The yarn is Knitting For Olive Pure Silk. The third skein was of a different dye lot so I made sure I alternated skeins. Altogether a very satisfying finish for me. #knittersofmastodon #IKnitWhatIWear
