This looks really cool, can we have something like this for the #Fediverse/ #Mastodon? Like a bot posting the most used #Hashtags every 10 minutes in form of such a nice #wordcloud.
Sometimes we should step back and appreciate just how well Mastodon actually works. Watching this whole #Meta#Threads thing play out, makes it really clear how vital algorithm free #hashtag search is for truly democratized engagement.
I find it increasingly annoying, if not unbearable, how #Fediverse culture locks itself out of the larger Web culture of crawling and indexing everything unless some person or some server explicitly disallows. Being able to #search and find anything from huge amounts of published posts has become an essential, core part of how research, discussion, research publishing and more is being done on the web, since more than twenty years by now. It is essential for addressing the right persons. It helps greatly in finding ongoing debates, and to add to them. No, these essential tools for online discussion can not be replaced by hashtags. Show me the proper #hashtag for https://doi.org/10.1177/17470161231180449 - I hope you get my point here.
Today, as the Fediverse has brought us a decentralised infrastructure for distributing, storing and connecting online discussions, we have better means to fence out hate speech than before. The dispense of being able to search for things goes far over the top.

Any of you intelligent computer scientists have a #hashtag aggregation app somewhere out there in the #fediverse? If we’re going to keep this #music experiment in-line with #mastodon culture, I’m going to dig into every hashtag I can. I’m good with research + cross references, just wondering if anyone has any secrets to dive deeper.
I'm realizing something. Might be related to #mastodon etiquette if there is such a thing.
Some of the many people I follow use Mastodon as a way to vent publicly, yet do not want to entertain replies. I get this. It's akin to screaming into the void or "facepalm". Or perhaps just getting private thoughts out in writing or playing with word structure. Mastodon is a special gift in each way we express ourselves here.
But if you #hashtag your #toot, be ready for the open community toots.
What is stopping someone from turning every word in their post into a #hashtag ?
Do like the hashtag police show up and issue a citation? Do you get voted off the server Survivor style? Does an actual giant mastodon show up at your door?
When one person clogs up a #hashtag I follow so completely, that no matter how long I #doomscroll, all I see is that one person's posts, one after the other, seemingly forever. Aaarrgghhh!!
I just learned that #Mastodon doesn't allow searching of posts by textual content. Only #hashtags are searchable publicly. The Posts search functionality is for your own posts and mentions only. This is disappointing to me, for sure. Search is how we discover things!
There are SO MANY more covers I love, but I kept it to five. This hashtag is really fun to scan through. So many great lists, and some tracks I'd NEVER heard of. Gonna be listening a good chunk of the night 😁
I would like to hear from people using screen readers. Do you prefer the hashtags to be intermingled in the body of the message, or separately at the end?

Un nuovo strumento su cui ho lavorato (per favore, siate gentili con lui!): hashtag.place! È un modo semplice per seguire gli #hashtag come account bot, utile per le implementazioni di #ActivityPub che non supportano l'inseguimento nativo degli hashtag e per le istanze più piccole/autonome che potrebbero non vedere molti dei post taggati dalle istanze più grandi.
(Da browser) è piuttosto semplice:
Scegliere un hashtag da seguire (ad esempio, #running).
Sostituite il segno # con il segno @ e cercate l'utente sul server di hashtag.place (ad esempio, @ running @ hastag.place²).
Seguite l'account del bot e questo pubblicherà ogni pochi minuti nuovi post con quell'hashtag visti su istanze più grandi!
(I bot si autocancellano se hanno 0 follower per qualche giorno, quindi non preoccupatevi se non vi piace e non seguite).
