You better be there, er'body. I'm too broken to get down the stairs, but if I could, I'd be there! Looking forward to hearing about #GoodTrouble raised to let the fucking bigots know they have no home here! #TerryWilliams#RallyInSF#Racism
"The Whole World is Laughing at You, Donald Trump"
An anti-Trump protestor in Washington Square Park in New York City holds a sign that says, "The Whole World is Laughing at You, Donald Trump," while other signs say, "Resist," and #goodtrouble
"Doug Ford is, aside from a serial privatizer, a guy who likes easy projects, like handing out a gas tax cut, buck a beer, etc, but he skirts the really hard files because he doesn't have the patience [intelligence] or risk tolerance to tackle them unless a crisis is forced upon him.
Premier Ford cares about the limelight [and being liked by his buddies] but a lot of the grunt work of good government is in planning, implementation and followup."
Do not get lost in a sea of despair. Be hopeful, be optimistic. Our struggle is not the struggle of a day, a week, a month, or a year, it is the struggle of a lifetime. Never, ever be afraid to make some noise and get in good trouble, necessary trouble.
The March on Washington was the product of a long and arduous journey. Each moment built upon the previous one, generating momentum and solidarity among civil rights activists. By the time the march occurred in 1963, it stood on the shoulders of decades of activism, struggle, and resilience.
I still cannot get over the wonder and mystery of what gall wasps can do to plants. This is bio-engineering! The wasp lays her egg and somehow the plant makes a structure that is not a fruit, it is not a seed, it is not a leaf or stem. It's a wholly recombinant architecture customized to the needs of the growing young larva. The plant provides food and shelter-- It's like a cancer, but with a purpose.
During this time #johnlewis said it was important to engage in
⭕"good trouble, necessary trouble"
in order to achieve change and he held to this credo throughout his life

"UPS strike would trigger pandemic-era supply chain issues, expert says"
Yes, this is the point of going on strike, to draw attention to the work that the workers do that's not getting adequately acknowledged with appropriate compensation and benefits

My husband got inspired by a picture I took last summer of a bombas melanopygus bumble bee on an agastache he had planted. So of course, he planted about 500 square feet of agastache, achillea, and asclepias in this section of the parkway strip between the sidewalk and the curb. The planting has a gentle hum from all the winged visitors. #GoodTrouble#PollinatorGardens

Over 500 Indiana doctors sign open letter to urge medical licensing board to reconsider punishment of Dr. Caitlin Bernard: "Physicians are committed to unequivocally placing the needs of the patient as the highest priority. This extends to the needs of the population in the form of public health and health policy." #HoosierMast :indiana: #GoodTrouble
One of my biggest concerns about switching over to Mastodon when I did, was losing the online Black community I developed on birb site, many of whom were very helpful to my continuing to thrive as I negotiated white supremacist spaces in my professional and personal life. I am very happy to find another such community here, and want to give a shout outs to SOME (wish I could tag everybody - the search function is pretty terrible here for some reason) of the people that keep me coming back to the Fediverse. Love you guys!
(Side note: the autofill "@" function for Mastodon really sucks - fully 85% of the time it autofills Neil Gaiman - so it took me a REALLY long time to populate this list. And I can't find the homie Jaden from Chicago)
We need a reinterpretation of the 2nd Amendment, one that makes clear that a right to bear arms is not necessarily a right to own guns or to own many of the types of guns most aggressively marketed in this country. It certainly isn’t a right to own guns without serious limitations. #GunControl#LawFedi#Here4Kids#GoodTrouble 5/
You have autonomy, and agency, you have the power to make a difference in the lives around you.
If we sit waiting for a service, or permission, things will never change, more people will slip through the cracks in our system. We can feed people, we can provide them with medical care, housing, etc... We will never make a difference without sacrifice, we cannot be afraid of the state's unjust laws. There are times in our lives when we have a moral imperative to go break them.
Am an accidental activist, art director, and author. Firm believer that anyone can abandon #racism when they want to, know change is possible, and know how.
