With Donald Trump’s long record of racist and xenophobic comments, why is support for him among voters of color increasing?

Two political scientists went to America Fest to look at how Republicans are appealing to voters of color by invoking law and order, conservative social values and mistrust of government.

Do we think that the polls showing the Conservative’s getting crushed under FPTP will convince enough of them to support PR?

80 years ago, against a sizable force, who held the physical high ground, brave individuals climbed from the water onto the beach, and up that high ground, to free people from fascism (Nazi forces).

I find it ironic and sad, that 80 years later, fascism is taking root in America, as a convicted felon who supports isolationism, racism, and Nazis, is one of the leading Presidential Candidates.

Michigan used to be a safe bet for Democrats, but Trump’s 2016 campaign did a number on changing the state’s electoral question.

And today, Michigan is somewhere where small shifts can mean a lot. Low turnout with this voter group, extra enthusiasm with that one – small things like this add up in a big way.

What Donald Trump’s Criminal Trial Reveals About a Potential Second Administration

The latest trial revealed a lot about how Trump went about running his company and the presidency — and provided hints of how that might play out in a second Trump administration.

Obsessing over the polls is pointless. These people are going to pull out all the stops to steal this election.

One of the big debates around the forthcoming election is the adoption of tactical voting & its use to 'punish' the Tories.

There's lots of media commentary about this, but as always @sjwrenlewis offers an interesting take on the issue.

In the end he concludes one of the key democratic aspirations of this election must be to deny the Tories the post-election position of remaining the 'official' opposition.... & tactical voting may/can achieve that end!

I noticed a landowner who had posted huge Trump display signs during the Indiana primary season had removed them after a NY Court found Trump guilty of 34 felonies.

The signs went back to advertising lots for sale.

Maybe having Trump plastered over your future homestead was appealing in the past, but not so much now.

In the last several election cycles, the signs were up from before the primary until after the general election.

Torsten Bell sums up the problem with the Tories trying to bribe older voters with a tax cut (reversing their own tax-grab conducted via fiscal drag)...

'Trying to bribe baby boomers with small tax cuts completely misses the point that they’d like something else. A functioning NHS'!

"They wanted to see Democratic rival Hillary #Clinton in prison over the use of her private email server while secretary of state.
And Mr #Trump was more than willing to back their calls for, at the very least, a fresh investigation. During the debates, he told Mrs Clinton:
"If I win, I am going to instruct my attorney general to get a special prosecutor to look into your situation.""

I know a little bit more about American politics than the average bear, and the only thing I’m comfortable assuming about this is:

Anyone who speaks with certainty about what is going to happen in the next five and a half months is full of crap.

A third Tory MP has defected to Labour - Mark Logan, Bolton North East.... like others he's not standing at the next election & in this case is seeking to join Labour & support its campaign.

In case you've lost count that's now 78 Tory MPs who will not be contesting the election.... not exactly a vote of confidence in Rishi.

And, to be frank, surely Tory voters must be wondering, if even its own MPs won't support the party, why would they?

Tory stay-at-homes will be high...

Fed up with election coverage (already)... well, why not check out this list of the top 20 Clint Eastwood films - its his 94th Birthday - and see if you agree with the ranking, or whether the Guardian has left out your favourite Eastwood movie.

It'll take your mind of the political stuff for a few minutes (and you need that, I know I did).
