we need a word for when you're in a familiar place doing a familiar thing, but there's a new unfamiliar method happening there because of phone apps.
Example 1: I was at a huge supermarket the other day shopping for a few things and half the people in each aisle were store employees preparing orders for people who bought them online
Example 2: if you walk into a McDonalds today, half the signage is just for UberEats drivers, with their own pickup area.

the weirdest part of the new iPhone Standby mode is I don't know if it's worth getting a whole new bedside stand/charger for it, but I can't answer that unless I someday bought one and lived with it for a few weeks.

We just can't afford to develop. What's going to happen is Governments are going to try and coin the technology and control masses with greater intensities.
For the private sector the development will stagnant because of corporate greed and lacking diversion.

There’s an article from Wired making the rounds about how Elon Musk’s brain implant company tortured a bunch of monkeys to death and then lied about it.
There are lots of awful things to say about this specifically and Musk in general, but something much broader stands out: that the SEC is investigating…because Musk lied in his tweets and claimed the monkeys didn’t die from his implants.
He lied to investors. That’s what he did wrong. That’s what our system cares about. That’s all it cares about.
There is not a single man alive who has done more harm on a global level, over a longer period of time and across more issues (Iraq, climate, Covid, white supremacy, authoritarianism) than Rupert Murdoch. You can’t change my mind.
