Thought experiment:

X creates a mastodon instance. Not one that bridges to X or federates X to the fediverse, but a native Mastodon instance. Do we have the same complaints about "consent" with them becoming part of the fediverse?

Is it the company that is objectionable, or the fact that it's not a native fediverse app that is the problem?

FWIW my thought is bridging is an issue, putting fediverse content into other ecosystems. If they have a Mastodon instance (or other fedi type), that doesnโ€™t do that, and you can choose to interact or not individually, whatever your feelings on the company in question. Naturally I would prefer that only โ€œthose with good intentโ€ enter my space, be that personal or online ๐Ÿ™‚

Finally got myself a again. It's a horrid little toy, not the sort of thing I was hoping to find. But it was the only one I've been able to find in a shop that isn't locked to a cell provider (which is obviously anti-competitive and probably needs to be struck down as an antitrust violation).

But it opens up the possibility of going back to a no WiFi in the bedroom policy. While still having an alarm, reminders about critical appointments, and the ability to receive calls and texts.

Yesterday morning, very suddenly, my beloved cat Frankie Fangs died of a stroke. He fell off his cat tower, I heard it, I picked him up, and after trying some rescue breaths and his inhaler, I had a few moments to make him feel loved. Dev and I were there while he crossed over the Rainbow Bridge.

He was the best gato and was filled with unconditional love. If the spirit moves you, please donate to your local pet shelter because animals are the best parts of our lives and deserve all the the care we can give them. Frankie is survived by his little sister Whisper, and nine and a half years of incredible, joy-filled, incredibly funny, lifelong memories.

Anyone in Toronto who can take a 9 yo dog with special needs?

Mac was shot when he was 2, some bullet fragments are still in. He needs pain medication. He's also reactive to loud noises (hard to blame him!)

My friend has had him for 7 years. Mac is a very good boy. However my friend is struggling with major health issues with no way out and has tried for MONTHS to find a rescue that would take Mac. My friend has no spoons left. And the vet suggested euthanasia. This coming Saturday.

has anybody ever received a #medical #diagnosis where the #doctor told you that your illness will likely cause a significant reduction in your #lifespan? Not that you are dying, but that you likely will not live to be an old person? How did you deal with this news? How do you handle that?

Ok, what I have, most likely, is whatโ€™s called C-Diff. Look it up. Itโ€™s scary.

I had to take antibiotics for some oral surgery 2+ wks ago + antibiotics to counter those antibiotics (which trigger C-Diff).

It workedโ€ฆuntil it didnโ€™t.

I got symptoms. Being tested to make sure. Yes, Iโ€™m miserable, but I luckily havenโ€™t gotten a severe case.๐Ÿคž๐Ÿผ

Weird: 1st case a few mos ago was not from antibiotics, no idea how I got it! Poss contact?๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

Hereโ€™s the thing โ€ฆ Trump is accused of sexual assault by 26 victims, one of which just won $83.3 million because of Trump defaming her.

Trump also paid off a porn star, has been found guilty of fraud in NY, stole (and possibly sold) top secret documents and is facing numerous charges connected to the J6 insurrection.

Republicans continue to ignore โ€ฆ even defend Trumpโ€™s crimes โ€ฆ while calling for the removal of Georgia prosecutor Fani Willis for allegedly having an affair.
