The blogging platform is working on adding integration. That means, among other things, being able to follow Ghost-powered blogs and comment on articles right from your Mastodon account. The website they made to explain their plans is really nice! This is what momentum looks like.

I'm trying to pay my Virginia income taxes online, and they have disabled paste in any field of consequence. Paste in a password? Nope. Your bank's routing number? You're gonna have to hand-key that. Your bank account number? You better believe you're typing that in.

If you wanted to force people to create crappy passwords and cause them to accidentally siphon money out of strangers' bank accounts, this is how you'd do it. And somebody went to extra effort to make it be like this!

@waldoj@mastodon.social avatar

Browsers should refuse to respect paste-disabling. This is not something that any user wants.

Fairphone sent me the Fairbuds to test about a week ago. My thoughts:

✅ Replaceable battery in both the buds & the case!
✅ Active noise canceling & decent sound quality (to me, not an audiophile)
✅ 149 eur, not bad
❌ Buds & case both quite bulky
❌ Almost symmetrical design means I never know which way is R/L, or up/down
❌ BT range seems a bit lower than usual

More about this later

@Techaltar curious to see what you make of it on the review, I think it's important to remember that even with the downsides in terms of bulky items, these folks are trying to really shape things up on a different direction and that's commendable.

The fact that you can follow the president of the United States (@potus) from your Mastodon account instead of being forced to have an X or Threads account for it is a huge W in my book. Of course our team is fully available to help if they'd want to set up Mastodon on whitehouse.gov. I believe governments should not rely on 3rd party platforms to connect with their constituents.

Recap of Putin's narrative:

Ukraine is a country of Russians waiting to be liberated, who deserve to have their energy infrastructure bombed, so they can freeze to death before the liberation, because they are led by a Jewish president who is somehow also a nazi who has recently sent his Islamic jihadist terrorists to gun down Russians in Moscow while screaming “allahu akbar”.

Imagine the briefing on Russian tv1, where the hosts are told to keep a straight face while delivering this message.

I switched to Firefox a few weeks ago and it was remarkably painless for something so absolutely critical and that I need to work reliably, with zero additional friction, every single day.
I cannot stress enough how low-hassle it is to switch from Chrome to a browser with a business model that doesn't rely on tracking you.
Do it.
