Visiting the museum of natural history makes me wish public parks had T-rex or Allosaurus, or some other similar dinosaur skeletons on permanent display so kids and just people in general can study them casually and frequently. I know it would be a maintenance nightmare, but it would be so cool.

@chiliedogg wow this is a nice summary from which to start defining possible solutions. Off the top of my head, it would be low-rise residential co-op ownership clusters with adjoining, enclosed spaces like small Milan gallerias. Residential clusters will be connected by main commercial streets with offices and stores. Cluster groups form towns and cars would only be allowed to travel between towns but not within. Millions of people still need to transition to this, there’s no way around that.

The whole server migration from past night turned out a little different then I wanted, in total I could only cut about 30-50 euros per month from the main server cost

I did had to upgrade since it does seem like we need the power :blobcatgiggle:

But.... it wasn't for nothing!

Currently we are "future proof" with the latest software, both front and backend. The previous server was literal 4 years old :catblush:

So a little costs cut plus a huge software improvement

Between starting his own house in 1947 and his untimely death in 1957, Christian Dior really only had those 10 critical years of work (age 42-52).

Alexander McQueen had only 18 years (age 22–40) between starting his label in 1992 and death in 2010.

Hey, @mirlo is it possible to embed tracks/albums from Mirlo into Wordpress blogs? I can't figure it out if it is...

EDIT: OF COURSE IT IS, I am just not terribly observant. It's right there when you hit the "Share" button.

@etherdiver @mirlo I see an embed code option when you click on the share button. You can probably just copy paste the iframe html into the post (via the code tab).

Much as I dislike the theft of human labor that feeds many of the products we see today, I have to agree with @pluralistic that law is the wrong way to address the problem.

To frame the issue concretely: think of whom copyright law has benefited in the past, and then explain how it would benefit the individual creator when it is applied to . (Hint: it won’t.)

Copyright law is already abused and extended to an absurd degree today. It already overreaches. It impoverishes society by putting up barriers to creation and allowing toll-collectors to exist between citizen artists and their audience.

Labor law is likely what we need to lean on. and protect creators in a way that copyright cannot. Inequality and unequal bargaining power that lead to exploitation of artists and workers is what we need to address head-on.

Copyright will not save us.

990000,
@990000@mstdn.social avatar

@drahardja I kind of agree and I think copyright law is entirely insufficient to deal with what AI is doing. I think it falls more along crossing lines of ethics and also undermining fair competition because of the automation of copying and reconstituting. We need new laws.

@GreenFire @andybrwn @ai6yr it should be like a reality TV show where each time a new “once in a century” record is broken within the century, a farewell should be held to cast away that version of past Earth forever, except more like a funeral. Then at the end of the year we can all look back at the past Earths we lost.
