#NYC's corrupt mayor (redundant phrase) had the #NYPD attack/assault Columbia students protesting #Gaza genocide after a private call with several pro-#Israel billionaires who promised political donations for his reelection campaign. Such a succinct example of how the sequestration of capital, political power, and violence within a tiny elite is the norm in this country.
Giving out FREE plants today on my stoop. Hoyas, spiders, monteras, purple hearts, yucca. Approx 1.30 EST in Sunset Park, Brooklyn near 45th R. Before the Knicks game. DM for address. #nyc#plants
Watching indie films outside is one of my favorite parts of the summer. Last night's opener was in a graveyard & the season includes screenings on warehouse rooftops, ferry piers, and parks across all five boroughs.
Beyond just the setting, part of why I live in #nyc is the chance to see movies that will never be picked up for distribution. Short films, weird animations, insanely-heavy topics; there is so much incredible art being made
lol. Shelter wouldn't let us take home fosters (in a hard shell carrier) in the #CargoBike because "it's too dangerous". I even deflated the tires a bit for this, for a smoother ride.
[for background, every cat I've ever dealt with has been terrified in a car. They hate the speed, and the loud engine/vibrations. It's one of the reasons I started transporting my former cats by bike.]
Some plants today. Our snake plant at home has been blooming. It's fragrant flowers are dripping with nectar- but since they are indoors, no hummingbirds or bees to slurp it up. Also the plant next to the snake plant is also taking off since I have been watering it so much.
At BrooklynGlass I went to get some neon tubes this morning and saw this neon tube double vase. I should really pitch a quick one day intro class just making lil vases like this out of tubing- so fun!
5 points to anyone who can tell me what the plant next to the spider plant is?

Business titans privately urged #NYC mayor to use police on #Columbia protesters, chats show
A #WhatsApp chat started by some wealthy #Americans after the Oct. 7 #Hamas attack reveals their focus on Mayor #EricAdams and their work to shape #USA opinion of the #Gaza war.
I grew up around #NYC and #Trump was infamous in New York City for not paying his vendors way back in the 1980s. Sue him as many did and he played legal games to stonewall you and you go out of business.
Then "The Apprentice" hits and the rest of America thinks Trump is some sort of business genius because that's how the grifter deadbeat is portrayed on the teevee.
Quite a quote from Eric Swalwell on the parade of GOP members attending #TrumpTrial this morning:
“I don’t think that anything could animate the phrase ‘do-nothing Congress’ more than missing votes and canceling hearings to go up and be a spectator at your cult leader’s trial.”
Cargo trikes working in midtown #manhattan in the rain this morning. The Worksman does catering at construction sites. The dad doing school drop-off said, "It started during covid, and now it's a lifestyle."
For A Project™, I need to learn about the historical origins of #bitmap#fonts. Highly doubt these were first created on computers; where in the world have rectangular #tiles or #bricks carried a textual message? (The tiled signs in the #NYC subway are #mosaics, not based on a grid.) Where did bitmap fonts really start?
"Soon after the portal began streaming, videos of inappropriate behavior began circulating online. These include people in Dublin holding up images of the 9/11 attacks to the camera, swear words and other inappropriate images displayed on phone screens, and people mooning at New York."
