The saddle-billed stork, or saddlebill (Ephippiorhynchus senegalensis) is a large wading bird in the stork family, Ciconiidae. It is a widespread species which is a resident breeder in sub-Saharan Africa from Sudan, Ethiopia and Kenya south to South Africa, and in The Gambia, Senegal, Côte d'Ivoire and Chad in west Africa.
This is a close relative of the widespread Asian and Australian black-necked stork, the only other member of the genus Ephippiorhynchus.
Every time I'm in a large crowd, I try this shot where you raise your camera over your head, steady it, and snap a few shots of the crowd in front of you.
It NEVER works, but I got lucky this one time.
Usually there's not enough separation between people for any one person to stand out above the others and even when you manage to highlight just one person, they're usually not doing anything interesting.
In 2022 I joined Mastodon with my other account @sethpicturesmusic , but with help from other Mastodon metalheads I found this server, so I want to migrate 😄.
Up at 04:30 this morning to take my wife to the station & thence the airport for an early flight to Edinburgh, to help our daughter again in her post broken kneecap surgery recovery 🤕🩼

Ich habe die nur entdeckt weil ich mich mal in den Schatten auf den Boden setzte. Ziemlich unscheinbares, kleines Ding und schlecht zu entdecken im Gegensatz zu den protzigen Knabenkräutern, die oft über die Gräser hinausragen. 😅
