I have voted for the European Parliament Election by mail.

But - is that also a thing in the Netherlands? It looks for me that dutchies can only vote by mail if they live outside of the country.

@equinox yeah I know. I have decided to vote in Germany. Hence the mail in ballot.

The main reasons is that I don't understand the Dutch political system well enough yet but also that I did not know to vote by mail.

@equinox from what I understand: you can view by mail if you are outside of the country in general. If seem (!!) to me way more complicated buti have not tried it yet.

Most people allow someone else to cast their vote for them.

I also don't know if you can just vote early like you can in DE.

I can send you a letter with the Dutch one. I bought them to send out challenge coins.

The extra price over normal stamps is minimal and the minimum number small enough to just do it. I think I bought 20 or so

Nachrichten verschwinden und tauchen später auf. Ich kriege Benachrichtigungen zu Nachrichten, wenn ich auf den Chat gehe, ist die Nachricht aber weg.
Alles lädt ewig und von den nicht entschlüsselbaren Nachrichten brauchen wir gar nicht erst reden.

Was verwendest du? Also welches OS, Desktop oder Webversion?

Bei mir laeuft alles super - ausser der Linux desktop client version.

Nicht entschluesselbare Nachrichten bin ich los geworden durch sauberes re-signieren aller client keys.
Ein Problem ist dann gerne das da ein Key rumfliegt der nicht mit den anderen kreuzsigniert worden ist.

@Avara das klingt nach Problemen im weirden Settings die im account gespeichert sind und nach Problemen im Keymanagent und das Du da irgendwo einen Key drin hast der nicht richtig kreuzsigniert ist.
Es ist besser fuer jeden client einen neuen key zu erstellen und den ueber kreuz mit allen noch vorhandenen alten keys zu signieren (ich glaube element nennt das verifizieren).

Das ist echt aetzend das wieder loszuwerden. Glaube da geht nur neuer Account.

You can spin the whole "people leave if you ask them to go back to office" thing as "stupid companies" but given how they are currently all trying to juice their stock value with layoffs doing that work for them doesn't sound like them being dumb, it saves on severance and shit.

@drwetter yeah. but i think you have to drive less to get to an acceptable area.

From Hamburg the Wendland seems already blue - 85km ish.
For me its northern France - around 300km.
Yellow is 30km ish for you - duvenstedter brook, 80km for me - Burgh Hammstede but realisticly speaking i'd drive to Wierum - 235km and get at least green.

Also you're more north but i don't think that matters that strong.

Which of the values do i have to keep an eye on?

How far do the forecasts go? As in: Can i have a go-bag in the car and then drive?

@drwetter For an excellent view for you its somewhere Aurdal / Norway (nice landscape btw) and for me somewhere Lochduich in Scotland. Reachable without ferry that has to be pre-booked. In both cases around 1200km.

Doable in 36 hrs.

Also don't trust your personal data with online therapy but .... The responsibilty is with those managers.

wo werden denn eigentlich die Leute, denen man einst empfahl, sich alle sechs Monate impfen zu lassen, heutzutage noch geimpft? Mein Eindruck ist, dass wirklich niemand mehr impft – liege ich falsch? Wir können hier ja mal für verschiedene Städte sammeln, wer noch dabei ist.

Hier - Rotterdam, NL - kann man sich so ohne weiteres gar nicht mehr impfen lassen, noch nichtmal gegen Geld. Ein Arzt muss eine Ueberweisung ausstellen und das machen die hier nicht so ohne weiteres auf zuruf.

Ich bin auch der einzige der sich noch vor Veranstaltungen testet.

Die regeln sehen vor das auch wenn ich infiziert bin weiter zur Arbeit gehen kann wenn der Arbeitgeber das so moechte. Ich arbeite zum Glueck im HomeOffce.

I am on the way to set up some video monitoring of an external building that has a history of break-ins.
I am already looking in window breaking and door opening sensors.
But i also want to look into cameras with motion detection.
I do not want to have the data stored "in the cloud" - if so in my cloud.

Is there anyone in my follower sphere that has an idea over video survelliance including motion detection and some alerting - in (ideally) open source and with keeping the data...?

I know that's hard.

Content list for a #FirstAid kit for #woodworking

  • band-aid pack for small wounds.
  • saline solution 0.9% for rinsing wounds and eyes 20x10ml
  • wound desinfection solution like octenisept or alike
  • Steri-Strips to close cutting wounds
  • gauze bandages
  • wound compresses
  • pincette for small splinters
  • a tourniquet for big wounds / accidental amputations - including an understanding where and how to use them
  • high visibility vest to attract an ambulance after the call

Also a must: a tetanus vaccination

to prevent issues: personal protection equipment and don't wear gloves around rotating machines.

To improve your healing chances please think beforehand how you would solve emergency cases including an understanding what you tell ambulance services to find you as fast as possible.

@maxwastaken Yeah, i think several methods require understanding in how to do it.
The tourniquet makes only sense in very specific use cases - but then there's little alternatives and failure is really rather deadly.
