Here in #Vermont, we had 2 of our hottest days on record last week, followed by a month’s worth of rain that fell last night (in the span of less than 24 hrs).
Earlier this year, a white teen deliberately (allegedly) shot a woman. That teen was charged as a juvenile. Last week, a POC teen accidentally (allegedly) shot his friend. This teen is charged as an adult. Very curious about State's Atty. Vekos's reasoning in this case.
Winooski River at Essex Junction has reached major flood stage (18 ft) and is only going to crest this afternoon. If it hits 20 feet, flooding is expected to be widespread all the way to Lake Champlain. The discharge is 31,100 cubic feet per second - the previous max, set in 1931, was 6,940 ft^3/s. Median is 692 ft^3/s. #vermont#climate#vtwx#flooding#vtflood
My only good shot from totality (after I remembered to take the filter off the lens! 🤦♂️🤣). Totality was amazing and so I was drinking it all in. Temps dropped a good 10 degrees F, mosquitoes came out, the birds stopped singing, everyone’s solar lights came on, and it was incredibly dark. Really amazing!
And then it was over and everything started returning to normal!
About 10” (25cm) has fallen in the last 12 hours and it’s still falling. Wet and heavy. Supposed to get to well above freezing by the afternoon. #Vermont#SilentSunday#Snow
I have exhibited some of these fiddlehead fern and daffodil photos before, but I don't think I've ever shown this one.
This is through a modern lens, which is very very good, when it's good, and when it's not, well, it's bad. It's sharp, but the bokeh is either among the most beautiful, or sometimes ugly at some apertures and distances. No complaints here!
Probably my best, and some might say only, bird picture. Cedar Waxwing, Grafton, #Vermont, 22 March 2014. Taken with a Nikon D3300 DSLR, 200mm lens. A lucky shot.
It’s nearly 9 PM and I’m watching a line of cars headed down 12 South into Montpelier, #Vermont. I typically see about a car a minute or so. Amazing the number of people that shared this celestial event together. #Eclipse#Eclipse2024
Amazing 2024 solar eclipse interactive from the ever-talented @awoodruff - heads up to the folks in #btv#vermont and #mtl, we're getting a total overpass.
I just moved from .social, here’s my #introduction. I’m Caroline, just barely still in my 30s, out as a trans woman since Nov. 2022.
I’m married to a (fortuitously) bisexual cis woman, and have 3 kids who still call me Dad, which gets more enjoyable the more it makes less sense to outsiders.
I love typefaces (calligraphic to emoji) languages (Xhosa to Georgian), music of nearly all kinds (sorry country and reggeton) and dumplings of all kinds (no exception).
I manage a small music software QA team at a very large company; my views are my own.
I like chaos. If entropy didn’t exist, neither would we. Anyway that’s why my bras are mixed in with my leggings.
How to help #Vermont#flood recovery. I was there for Tropical Storm Irene, homes were washed away, communities were cut off, and lives were lost. This appears to be worse.
Happy #eclipse day for all those who observe. I am not in the #totality path here in #Nashville, but the youngest daughter in #Vermont is, with a front row seat. And 7 years ago I was one of you and I took my own photo as a keepsake.
