This is one of my favorite lenses, a Voigtlander Apochromatic wonder. So sharp, and also reasonably pretty. It's pretty much always in my bag. However, maybe not quite as pretty as a vintage lens…

@GottaLaff Just a warning about those pods, and I’m sure they’re not all the same. Last summer I had a few U Haul pods to contain all the stuff from the very crowded room where I was replacing the floor with hardwood. The pod leaked. I called U Haul about it, and the guy said, “These are represented as being water resistant, not water proof.” So I had to put a tarp over it.

I got a single pound of Gesha green coffee at a pretty reasonable $10/pound. I usually buy at least somewhat cheaper greens, and I try to resist fads and hype in coffee.

I tried a pound of it years ago when I was less skilled as a roaster and had a less controllable machine. That did not impress.

This time I made a mistake in my roast. Damn. Technically bad, but OK

First cup now. Wow. Unique and amazing. Fruity. Floral. Long flavor experience through and after the sip

Just for fun, here’s a list of current vendors of green coffee. Sweet Marias, but I’ve also been very happy with a few of the other vendors: Happy Mug for price, Hacea, Prime Green Coffee, The Captians Coffee, and Klatch for quality.

Sweet Marias is fantastic for several reasons:

  • They give great detail and information about each coffee
    *They try to work with good farms, to assure supply and make sure the farmer stays in business
    *Education

I had a millisecond of brain short-circuit confusion. Working on coffee and breakfast, I turned to see a very bright light on some jars. I was confused. “What's wrong?! Is a light bulb flaring out? Why so bright?” But of course it was a beam of sunshine. It’s only going to do this for these few days, no leaves on the trees, angle just right. Rare.

It's like those neolithic stone sundials, where the sun only aligns at the one time in the year

It has begun… again.

It is 6:17 AM and there is already a stream of traffic heading north. I am just thankful that we didn’t do anything stupid yesterday and that the dog is not stressing out like he has in the past.

@masukomi yikes! Driving far north I had a Volvo with MA plates trying to join our party by entering our car via the rear bumper but no other incident. Worried a little about trying to drive home, expecting that to be much crazier.

@trumpet No, the transaction doesn't go through -- I think it's because I'm blocking instagram on the mac and that's somehow part of the process? I’ll try it on the ipad after today. I'm using Little Snitch on the mac to block some traffic -- like to Facebook, instagram, Xitter, other malware.

@ivory What's going on now with Mac/Ivory where it always expands to fill the screen? I make the window smaller, next time I look at Ivory it's full screen. I grab the corner of the window to make it smaller, do something else, full screen. Repeat and repeat. Is there a setting for this, or do I have to make a Keyboard Maestro macro for Ivory Windowing?

@coffee @coffeegeek I finally got around to cleaning my Timemore C3 Pro, let’s just say it’s been months. I use it daily and was expecting it to be a mess, but it was super easy and there was barely any oils or residue. Got me thinking about what actually takes place when a grinder is ‘seasoned’ is something more important if you have electric grinder or flat burrs?

@justforfun @coffee @coffeegeek I think the biggest factor in how gunky the grinder gets might be how oily dark-roasty your beans are. I roast dark sometimes, but mostly I roast City/City+, and my burr grinder is clean after years. #coffee

One of its co-founders, Matt Mullenweg, is CEO of , which runs WordPress.com and owns .

They can’t sell what they don’t have, so “WordPress” here refers to WordPress.com, not self-hosted WordPress instances.

BUT many self-hosted instances use the Jetpack plugin, which does send data to WordPress.com, so that might be sold 🤬

@_L1vY_ If self hosted, installing Jetpack is something you have to go out of your way to do. If hosted by Wordpress.com, I have no idea, but it seems in that case Jetpack is not the greatest worry today if you don't like AI.
In 20 years of using Wordpress, I've never installed Jetpack on my own or anyone else’s site.
