About 10” (25cm) has fallen in the last 12 hours and it’s still falling. Wet and heavy. Supposed to get to well above freezing by the afternoon. #Vermont#SilentSunday#Snow
I am amused by the suggestions from Vermont state agencies that people should bring a paper map in case GPS stops working. After 17 years with smartphones and Google/Apple Maps… ** do people even know how to read paper maps anymore? ** 🤣
Welp, we just bought a third camper. It will remain on our seasonal lot in Vermont. It's a 2014, 32' with a slide. It will be a better fit for the summer months when we are not traveling so much.
We now have a big summer camper in VT, a huge Winter camper in TX, and a small travel camper for the shoulder seasons when we tend to do most of our travel.
Seems like a lot is going on in #Middlebury right now while listening on the scanner. Evacuations for sure, and even perhaps a rescue—it’s hard to tell. I feel like this flooding came out of nowhere. Roads are closed. Seems like folks should avoid the area right now if possible. #Vermont#VTwx
Every time I tell people that I live in #Vermont, they always ask me how it is.
I usually give something quick, liked "It's lovely!"
The truth is that deciding to move to Vermont over a decade ago was one of those choices that cascade into other life changing events, where you find more and more of yourself that you never knew.
When you wonder whether to take a step towards something for no evident reason, I hope you do.
I just posted a long thread about our eclipse adventures, but this was the only photo I managed. I hauled my fancy, expensive astrophotography gear up with ambitions of capturing a lengthy timelapse, but none of it worked (battery wouldn't power up despite a full charge, mini PC wouldn't connect to wifi hotspot despite dozens of prior tests). It was still well worth the experience, but I would have loved to capture some better photos.
Power went out in #Montpelier#Vermont. Then we heard sirens, and now the sky is lit up red. Yikes. Heading out to see what's up and get some dinner in the Barre
Tomorrow is Election Day here in the USA and it is a BigDay across the nation with all sorts of state and local elections, big ballot measures in some states. Lots of very important decisions! PLEASE VOTE!
Except… here in #Vermont ! We have no elections happening except, I think, in one city.
All our state elections are every two years, and our local elections are at “Town Meeting Day” in March.
I was not anticipating that we would need to get out the air conditioners in MAY all the way up here in northern #Vermont ... but I see neighbors doing it... and this just may be the day for us, too!
We seemed to have skipped much of the "Spring" thing and gone directly to Summer.
Um.. #Vermont .. what’s up with this 46 F (~8C)? I mean… it’s certainly “refreshing”… and I do understand we’re just 45 minutes south of the Canadian border… but did Mother Nature miss the memo about last weekend being Memorial Day and “the start of summer”? 🤣
