Microsoft reveals subscription pricing for using Windows 10 beyond 2025, and it's not cheap. Customers will need to pay $61 per device, which will double every year for three years, to remain secure on Windows 10. If you just do shopping or social media you can use alternative os like Ubuntu, Mint, or pop os for your older computer instead of jumping to windows 11. Also regardless of windows 10 or 11 prices you will still get Ads in Windows 😂 #linux #privacy #security Choose wisely

Just setup @GrapheneOS on one of our test devices, and it was such a breeze! ⚡️

The whole installation ran on the browser, with just a few clicks! 🤯

Talk about making accessible 🫡

We all have preconceived notions about #privacy on our desktop operating systems. But how much data does #Windows, #macOS, and even #Linux really collect?

Let’s look at all the things they know about you, what they do with the data, and how you can disable most, or all of that:

Ok, so I asked you to give me all the questions you had for #Proton. I collected all of that, and asked all I could I fit in an 1h30 hour long interview with Andy Yen, the CEO of Proton.

He talked features, business model, #Linux support, #privacy, security, and everything in between, and here is the full interview:

Recommend to have the "Upvote" or Favorites list be hidden.

Currently, each thread has the "Activity" link that shows publicly everyone that upvoted/favorite a thread. This is counter norm to many coming from Reddit and newer folks that expected otherwise. I think hiding the list should be high priority in next feature update(removal?) to encourage frictionless upvoting behavior....

Meta is proposing a paid option to opt-out of advertising on Instagram and Facebook. It's basically extortion to have your right to protected.

Ads can and should be delivered without resorting to illegal that violates users' rights and exposes them to predatory or discriminatory advertising.

If can't conduct their business legally, that should be their problem to solve not ours.

This post is about cybersecurity, OSINT, and privacy.

REMINDER
Today’s surveillance cameras perform very well in low light conditions. In theaters, or any other public space, never assume that you can’t be seen because it’s dark. You can be seen. You are being seen. You are being recorded.

Looking for recommendations!

I want a JavaScript only comment plugin for my website. I don't want to deal with storing comments, registering users, or anything like that.

I just want to stick a line or two of JS in my HTML and be done.

I've been using https://intensedebate.com/ but it looks like that's on its last legs.

Ideally I'd like something #OpenSource friendly and at least vaguely #privacy focused (so not disqus!).

Needs to work with multiple login providers.

Any suggestions?

Microsoft says it’s starting to test ads inside the Start menu on Windows 11. The software maker will use the Recommended section of the Start menu, which usually shows file recommendations, to suggest apps from the Microsoft Store. Trillion dollar corporation is so poor. They need more money by selling your data to the highest bidder. wtf? https://www.theverge.com/2024/4/12/24128640/microsoft-windows-11-start-menu-ads-app-recommendations
