What's the market for #recipes that are both low carb & low meat?
We have a family member who has to eat low carb. We also strive to #EatLessMeat. This has forced me to get pretty creative in the kitchen. I've built a decent repertoire of recipes that are #keto-friendly, kid-friendly, working-parent-friendly, animal-friendly(ish), & don't use artificial sweeteners. It's a niche need, but curious if anyone else out there is chasing a similar diet & could use help!
Timeline of "The Sad Bastard Cookbook: Food You Can Make So You Don't Die" goes viral
Summer 2022: I watch a twitch stream and we discuss how to cook eggs in ramen. I tell Rachel, hey lets write a blog post about making easy food when you're depressed, apparently some people in the world don't know ramen hacks.
A couple days later: We should ask all our friends for recipe ideas to include
12 days later: oh shit this is an entire #cookbook not a blog post
This looks like it might be fabulous, and it was written right here in South Australia. Cherie Hausler is a Barossa Valley-based cook, baker, podcaster, community builder and founder of the plant-based food business All The Things.
> I co-wrote a cookbook for depressed people and other folks with zero spoons, only knives. It's not meant to be gourmet cooking so much as a survival guide for late stage capitalism. And you can get it for free!
This is my new favorite cook book and the Instant Pot is my new favorite kitchen appliance. I can't believe I haven't tried an instant pot before now. Just cooked dry beans in an hour instead of all the pre-soaking and cooking on the stove for three hours. The mushroom risotto in this cookbook may be the best thing I've ever made. #Cooking#InstantPot#Cookbook#Vegan
I heard this author on the Splendid Table podcast and was inspired to buy his cookbook - first recipe I tried: Green Chile Cheeseburgers! I made a vegetarian version using Beyond meat and they turned out really good. Tip: Put thin layer of butter on burger buns & toast on a cast iron skillet. That way the outside stays squishy. #Cooking#Cookbook#Burgers
I'm going to make something out of Baking Yesteryear tomorrow. I haven't decided what yet, but I'm pretty stoked. Also if you love B. Dylan Hollis on TikTok I can't recommend this book enough.
"Ultimately, this is a #cookbook that really feels much more than just a book of recipes. It serves as a testimony to Nacamulli’s family story, and as general #Italian#Jewish history. There’s no shortage of unique recipes to try, along with familiar favorites that are impossible to resist. And, of course, we can all recognize that beautiful and important feeling of taking a bite of #food that connects us to something bigger, be it family, community, or history, which is really at the core here."

Cochinita Pibil Tacos with pickled onions. These are some of my favorite tacos to make because they're really tangy 😋 Recipe from Tacolicious by Sara Deseran #Cooking#CookBook#Tacos
I created this for my parents, in-laws and my siblings, but thought I would go ahead and share it with the internet as well. It is a list of fairly easy low/lower carb recipes that my family has come up with over the years.
I'll be updating it over time so feel free to bookmark the link and to check back over time as we add more #recipes.
