Da mein Kleinweich-Abo bald abläuft und ich keine Lust auf KI-gestützte Ausspähung habe, wechsle ich nach vielen Jahren weg von MS (mehrere Mailkonten, unterschiedliche Anbieter). Zudem möchte ich weiterhin OHNE Cloud meine Termine und Kontakte mit Android-Smartphone synchen können (hierzu FOSS im Einsatz, jedoch nur für OL kompatibel).
Über die Jahre kam immer wieder #Thunderbird in die Diskussion, was meint Ihr?!?

For the next several weeks (and months?) I'm evaluating at least a dozen open source and commercial #email apps.
Now, I'm honestly not saying this because I work at @thunderbird, but the new #Outlook is a buggy mess within the first 5 minutes of use. I'm quite surprised that "Switch to New Outlook" toggle is even there.
My Gmail account requested re-authorization twice, and switching off Focused Inbox completely zapped everything from the message pane, and I can't get it back.

Ich pers. verstehe immer weniger weshalb viele Firmen sich an #Outlook fest klammern, weil dies Profi-#Email sei. Ich frage mich dann immer, wie #professionell die Entscheider sind? Ein Hinweis auf zB @thunderbird oder/und @k9mail werden ignoriert und laut abgelehnt (auch andere Lösungen). Das ist wahrscheinlich ihre #Angst was zu verlieren durch ihr Unwissen und deswegen wird am Gewohntem geklammert?
Wer nicht möchte, dass seine E-Mail-Zugangsdaten inklusive E-Mails an Microsoft abfließen, sollte ein alternatives E-Mail-Programm verwenden. Sofern "Neues Outlook" bereits im Einsatz ist, sollte das Konto gelöscht und anschließend die Zugangsdaten geändert werden. Eine mögliche Alternative: Thunderbird. 👇

Today's #Outlook on Mac annoyance: there is no way to stop it from formatting Ordinal numbers (I can make Word stop, but Outlook literally just does not have the functions built in). 💩

Kennt sich jemand mit diesem scheiß #MicrosoftTeams aus (ja, ich weiß). Wenn ich im kack Kalender von #Outlook zu einem Termin inkl. Teams einlade, gibt es die Option. „Weiterleitung zu[zu]lassen“. Klingt erstmal selbsterklärend, aber was heißt das genau? Erhalten die zum Meeting Eingeladenen einen individuellen Code oder können sie sich nur mit ihrer Mailadresse einklinken? Oder ist das wieder so etwas Pseudosicheres von MS, wo nur die empfangene Mail „nicht“ weitergeleitet werden kann?🧐
I'd argue that the web version of Outlook fails WCAG 2.1.4: Character Key Shortcuts (Level A) in spirit, if not by the letter.
There are single-key shortcuts that do annoying things like archiving the currently-focused email. You can turn them off, but only by turning off all keyboard shortcuts, including combos like Ctrl+Enter to send the email you're writing.
I only know about these shortcuts because every now and then Outlook decides the subject line doesn't have focus any more and the word I'm typing instead causes havoc in my inbox.

Je n'arrive pas à dire « si l'objet contient X et Y, fais Z ». Je peux choisir « si l'objet contient X », mais après je n'ai plus accès à la condition « l'objet contient », j'ai toutes les autres (contenu, date, etc), mais plus celle-là.
Stimmung gegen Outlook machen ist übrigens immer angebracht. Microsoft hat in seiner ganzen Geschichte nichts zu Email beigetragen, was nicht schädlich war.
Noch heute kämpfen Admins gegen Outlook und MS Mailserver, die sie beliebig blockieren und sich blöd verhalten.
