A Tudor Christmas Carol
As I outrode this enderes night.
From the Pageant of the Shearmen and Tailors, one of the Coventry Mystery Plays.

In the 16th century, students took an album with them when visiting prestigious universities. They collected poems, personal mottos or signatures from fellow students and famous professors.
These friendship books, alba amicorum, were considered #SocialMedia before the term was even coined. They offer a glimpse into the network of the album's owner.
The Connected Heritage project has come to an end after two incredible years. Lucy Hinnie, Digital Skills Wikimedian, has written up some of the highlights from the cultural institutions we worked with across the UK 👉 https://bit.ly/3T99fAd
I bought the #TWSBI ECO Jade #fountainpen to honor my #Filipino#heritage and the #history of the Maritime #Jade Road trade network between #Taiwan and the #Philippines. I wanted the perfect jade green ink, and I am happy with how the mixture of TWSBI Emerald Green and TWSBI Forest Green turned out.
A bit of updating, following a fair bit of autumn and winter 2023 fieldwork, on my report on buarthau, Welsh 'multicellular sheepfolds' - a name I suggest should be replaced with 'communal sheepfolds' in English and 'buarthau'r bobl' in Welsh.
New at my Patreon... At Muckleford, Victoria, I stood on a platform to see three Y-class locomotives pulling the Winelander train. And I wasn't the only spectator:

If you are interested in having an overview of what it is and how to define what we call "cultural heritage", I recommend this book by my colleague Salvador Muñoz Viñas.

The Römerturm in #Cologne is a tower that was built around AD50, with outside mosaics dating to the 3rd century. Beautiful #Roman#heritage of the former Colonia Claudia Ara Agrippinensium.
Catchpenny prints were 18th–19th-century budget-friendly mass printings in the Netherlands, targeted at audiences in low-income classes and children.
They cover Dutch heroes, Biblical tales, and children’s games and offer a snapshot into the interests of the 18th–19th-century Netherlands. Their poor paper quality led to limited preservation.

"The Uncomfortable Oxford, the tour that tells the dark side of the University" by María Ramírez (eldiario.es; Spanish)
"The tours have been so successful that the group started with one, but now offers several in Oxford, Cambridge and York as well as lectures and other courses. In pandemic, the tours continued virtually, and now the not-for-profit enterprise is sustainable.
Durand comments that the success of his tours reveals "a clear appetite for complex and nuanced discussions of the past and cultural heritage." He believes that history education, heritage and tourism are three sectors that can be brought together in the public space in a fruitful way".
#Ukraine is a country with a history of more than 1000 years, a meeting place for various cultures, and is home to seven incredible UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
This is a historic event for #Ukraine and an important step in the development and protection of the cultural and natural heritage of Ukraine," acting Culture Minister Rostyslav Karandieiev.
A place on the Committee opens up new opportunities for Ukraine's active participation in implementing the Convention Concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage, the Ukrainian Culture Ministry said.
In particular, it presents a chance to include new sites on the World Heritage List and the World Heritage in Danger.
"Ukraine was among the nine countries elected to the #UNESCO World Heritage Committee during the Nov. 22 vote for the first time in history. The country submitted its candidacy in July last year. #Ukraine is joining the other 20 members and will hold the seat on the Committee for the period 2023-2027."

Time to face the music. #climate#chaos is real and there's no avoiding what we've done to #environment. #BBC#article : Over 70% of sites face serious threats from climate change by the year 2060, and some worry that it isn't financially feasible to protect many of these places. We were shocked when ISIS destroyed ancient #heritage sites, however we're doing the same in essence, only indirectly.
Project 2025 builds on #Heritage's latest Mandate for Leadership, a series which since the Reagan administration has served as the right-wing think tank's to-do list for the next Republican president.
The Global Project Against Hate and Extremism (GPAHE) put out described it as a "#farright playbook for American authoritarianism" and "a threat to a multiracial, diverse democracy."
