A reminder for #researchers and #privsec advocates:

If you are tweeting or tooting about data dumps and are using screenshots of TAs' posts, remember to redact any links in the posts.

I have just seen two examples in the past hour where people tweeted screenshots that show the whole world where to find personal information of students in one case and protected health information in the second case.

Tweet or toot responsibly. Remember to redact.

Have a great weekend.

If you are a researcher working in the field of threat intelligence, always remember not to omit referencing the GitHub repositories from which you copy-pasted information for your paper. Failing to provide proper references is considered poor research practice.

Furthermore, merely copying and pasting the README without actually running or testing the software goes beyond bad research practice. Unfortunately, such papers are sometimes published by IEEE because there is no rigorous review process, and it appears that the publisher is primarily motivated by profit.

By the way, we also have a citation file that references an academic publication:

https://github.com/MISP/MISP/blob/2.4/CITATION.cff

It's not hidden and if you actually do state-of-the-art research should have seen it.
