#Shaarli: Introducing: Raspberry Pi 5! - Raspberry Pi - >Announcing Raspberry Pi 5, coming in late October: over 2x faster than Raspberry Pi 4, featuring silicon designed in-house at Raspberry Pi.
: https://www.raspberrypi.com/news/introducing-raspberry-pi-5/#rpi#raspberry#pi #5
Perhaps I should move on from #motioneye as my video surveillance software for my #RPi system. I finally get it set up to detect motion and send stills/movies to a central ftp server, but one wonky camera crashes the whole system. I've had to uninstall/reinstall the central system 6 times!
Looks like I am all in for an #RPi based security cam system. #Motioneye has been easy enough to use, and it gives me complete control over my own data. The learning curve was steep, but nearly as high as I had once assumed. Now if I could only use an extra #raspberrypi to build an automatic cat-feeder...
Today, my Pi Pico based adapter to connect IBM 3270 coax terminals to modern computers sent its first screen to my 3278. #retrocomputing#IBM#rp2040#rpi#pico
Had an old RaspberryPi computer sitting around and decided to set up Pi-Hole onto it to block ads and trackers on my home network. Setting it up was fairly straight forward, but getting it to work with my Bell hub was tricky. People couldn't get Internet unless I set their name server (DNS) settings manually, which doesn't work outside. In the end I had to use the Pi-Hole as a DHCP (IP address assigner) server as well, turning that off at the Bell hub. #RPi#pihole
I kinda wanna make an e-paper wall device. Something low power and have it update every so often with information. I have seen a few projects in passing like calendars and such.
I have a few RPi3's in a drawer so that isn't an issue. Finding the right display would be nice. Maybe one with Black and red, but Black and grey should be fine enough.
I have rooted old Kindle3 keyboard models in the past for a different project. That was a lot of fun to make it display QR codes on a schedule.
I also need to think what I would display. A calendar and/or weather with line art I think would be the most classy. #rpi#raspberrypi#linux#homeautomation
Last night I had the picam running for a good few hours, and I have some results! First up, here's a stacked version of the shots from last night. So busy!
And some processed results! Neither have been post-processed after stacking. The first set, which shows an awesome clear sky, was done at my erroneously-low settings, and the second set was when the cloud came in but you can still see the stars are much more bright!
Here's a shot from the more sensitive exposure settings, with the levels slightly adjusted to make the fainter stars stand out a little more. Other than that, it's just as the camera captured it. #rpi#raspberryPi#astronomy#astro#space
This was photographed with a picam2 noir, exposure 10sec and ISO 800.
Ok, let's see if I can make this screen work. Bought it from AliExpress and there seems to be many versions with slightly different protocols.
The first thing I found out was that it won't probably work with the SmartLED shield I bought and the Teensy 4
Maybe a RPi or an FPGA will be better to start #electronics#fpga#teensy#rpi
Resurrecting my old RaspberryPi 1B board seems to be successful. I've mounted it on a basement wall along with a similarly ancient USB cam, and hope to use it as a combo MQTT broker/logging-server and 3Dprinter monitor cam.
I discovered, that one VPS can host different websites for different domains and therefore multiple reverse proxys today!
So my Raspberry Pi now runs not only Nextcloud, but a Gitea server too! :blobcathappy:
They have their own subdomain with their own default http(s) ports.
> Certainly not. I'm advocating against monolithic instances. I'm thinking along the choices non-IT people have with, say, WordPress. A multiplicity of hosters offering managed solutions including a domain or sub-domain.
such providers are a weak point and allow for censorship.
> People who have a #RaspberryPi and a decent broadband connection, on the other hand, also have scripts and videos to get them going. Great for a personal instance. Most will have the required skills (or the #RPi will still be in the drawer ;-)
good luck getting a static ip, and not some nat mess. sadly for european isps ipv6 is an impossible upgrade
