Interesting results of my #LittleFreeLibrary poll. I appreciate the inputs! (I have not decided on a plan of action yet, but not convinced of the benefits of paying, along with the 72% -- and a bit wary of feeding the nonprofit grifting machine). They have attracted a lot of people to put up their libraries, but it seems like most of their work is marketing the idea.
This is the real story behind the headlines and the soundbites, a complex, page-turning memoir of a scientist, a surfer, a mother, a patriot and an unlikely whistleblower. Ford’s experience shows that when one person steps forward to speak truth to power, she adds to a collective whole, causing "a ripple that might one day become a wave.”
Pay $49.95 to the nonprofit group which owns the Little Free Library trademark to make my almost-Little Free Library official, or not. Hmm... (apparently quite the charity moneymaker). #LittleFreeLibrary
My almost Little Free Library, stocked with some books! These cool vintage hinges I used (out of some junk box) hold the door open and shut in whatever position they are in. Need to pay my $ and register this and get a name plate. #LittleFreeLibrary
2 photos taken today, by one of my regular #LittleFreeLibrary guests. From a friendly senior lady, who I met 3 years ago, when I first set up my LFL. She's been telling folks about it since the first time we met & visits my LFL at least once a week. I gift her flowers & random fun goodies for her 4 grandchildren, when I have extras available to share. I've made friends with a few of my regular LFL guests 🥰
You know this is an activist home - seeing my LFL & my protect old growth yard sign. I usually put up other items - at different times to support causes/movements that I believe & am active with. Our front yard is most photographed by strangers passing by 😊
I just love mini free libraries (#minibieb in Dutch) , you get so many cool random books and magazines there! (The Dutch one is likely too complex for me to read in Dutch, but hey, I understood some 80% of the intro, it's slow going but going... Don't ask about my spoken Dutch, though!)
In partnership with the Free Library of Philadelphia of Philadelphia and Little Free Library, Visit Philadelphia is distributing 1,500 banned books by Black authors at 13 visitor hubs across the city! Read more at the link below. #BlackHistoryMonth#LittleFreedomLibrary
370 books integrated into my #BookWyrm accounts, hundreds more to go... and that only includes my physical collection of books. My ebook collection is greater still...
Back in my younger days, bookstores were a major money sink for me - I hardly ever entered one without buying at least one book, and usually several.
The discovery of the #LittleFreeLibrary system - or "Öffentlicher Bücherschrank", in German - allowed me to deal with my compulsion in a cheaper way, although the problem of limited shelf space remained.
Lunch break project. Little Free Library primed... still need to get the other side and bottom. Then need some nifty art on this (or something like that). #LittleFreeLibrary#diy
Aha! Scored a free set of asphalt roof tiles for the Little Free Library project. Someone is getting their house re-roofed, and scavenged the scrap in the rubbish bin as I was driving by. Don't need much. #scavenging#LittleFreeLibrary#diy#project
