ai6yr,

Me: I think I'll build a little free library out of some scrap wood. Did you know people people 3D model these? I'm going to wing it.

My daughter (soon to be Mechanical Engineer): You really should sketch something out, 3D CAD is easy, but you can do it on paper.

Me: randomly cuts wood into a box of indeterminate size.

@ai6yr my fave little library

ai6yr,
ai6yr,

Hmm, the doors that were on what I turned into a 19 inch rack are almost the perfect size for this...

@ai6yr Not plexiglass?

ai6yr,

@andybrwn Popping the wood panels and will cut plexiglass to fit

ai6yr,

@andybrwn the bottom off one of these (sawed through and then banged on it with the appropriate random bits of wood). Some splintering, but it will be on the back and glued back... nothing paint won't fix, LOL.

ai6yr,

New plexiglass (very dirty, lol) scored and snapped! Not secured in there yet, wondering if I will repaint the doors another color first.

@ai6yr @andybrwn That looks cool!

ai6yr,

@mybarkingdogs @andybrwn The big challenge will be cutting/snapping the plexiglass without A. getting cut or B. shattering it the wrong way. I might end up going and finding a plexiglass cutting tool at the local hardware store, although you are supposed to be able to do this (carefully) with a razor blade.

@ai6yr @andybrwn Working with razor blades is pretty yikes haha. I actually learned how to scrape stuff from glass/paint (stickers, paint, etc) with one - can't do it now because of hand numbness/pain issues etc, I'd be more likely to fumble it and slice myself (which I almost did a few times even when my hands were more functional for superfine detailed stuff)

@ai6yr @andybrwn (the main trick if you ever need to remove something like a sticker or graffiti on glass with a blade is to wet the surface, btw - something like a mix of water and ammonia/glass cleaner will do - and try to "lift from under" not drag scrape across)

ai6yr,

@mybarkingdogs @andybrwn Oooh, good tip, I should have known that.
